if Patels of Gujarat are not happy, how did Modi's development model sell ? I wonder !!
Patels, from the legacy of Sardar Patel declined reservation many decades ago. But like Brahmins they too have become victims of the reservation policy of governments as it is being practiced now.
All leaders know about the flaws in the policy, but nobody wants to talk about it.
Governments have to be more scientific in identifying those who need reservation, like economic backwardness, like children who suffered trauma of death of one or sometimes both parents, children living in villages and studying in rural schools etc. Even then it should be for only a few years in their lives. To begin with families of those who have secured senior positions in government like minister or IAS, must be declined the benefit.
For Patels or Brahmins there are too choices. Either the governments weed out the creamy layer or people belonging to the mentioned castes get out of the country.

Point number 3 is most important.
Also focus on basic agriculture problems for farmers in villages.

DELHI INDIAN
Why people want reservation? To get govt. jobs which are infamous for bribe income, no accountability and job security. Govt. should have strict anti-corruption laws with strict implementation to put a stop on corruption. All govt. roles should have defined accountability with a timeline and finally fire 5% of least performing govt. employees. The Govt. employee’s salary should be at par with the private sector so there will not be any charm in govt.jobs. These steps will resolve the reservation issue to some extent. Now the million dollar question is who will take these steps? The political leadership has no will power. They want to keep the vote bank. I don’t see any light.
