As I check to see what is available today, I can see a few hundred locations that will be available, may not be close to where you want to start your journey here in Toronto,.but it will be a really good location and an excellent place to get started with, just to get settled here.
After the 1st of September 2015, 95% of the places will be GONE. The other 5% will provide you with a very slim selection of places as the schools and colleges will be in full swing and finding a half decent place will take tons of time and great efforts to search and locate. You being new to Canada will find it frustrating. So, be prepared to face all of the difficulties, if you are just looking for a place for a short stay of TWO weeks. If you get any place close enough to your Husband's work place, take it.. just for starters. Then move to a better place suitable to your liking and your needs.
What ever I see in the links as suitable today will be gone and newer smaller selection will appear at that time. You can select at that time, after you land, and ask us all of the questions at that time and get suitable answers to your specific queries.
Here is some help.
Please look in here and find one JUST FOR TWO WEEKS STAY. It will be well worth it.

Near Islington Or Kipling subway station within TTC limits will be better, as you will pay only one fare . TTC buses and TTC Subway ( Metro ) are connected and take /need only one fare i.e TTC fare.
Mississauga Transit ( aka Mi Way ) also goes to Islington subway, but you will now have to pay 2 fares i.e TTC fare + Mississauga Transit fare . TTC is Toronto Transit and does not accept Mississauga Transit Fare and vice versa.
GO train and GO buses are another option. GO - Government of Ontario transit. Its better for long distance travel ( usually ), the fare is distance based. TTC and Mississauga Transit doesn't matter whether you go 1 Km or 50 Km its the same fare !
Where in Downtown is he goin to work ? Location ? And I can tell you how much time and money it will cost him to get there, depending on TTC , Mississauga Transit and GO transit.
