Maple Lodge and Handi foods are looking for Mechanical and Electrical Engg/technician. They recruit through employment agencies for 6 months before absorbing as their regular employees.

I think, it's high time, we changed this old system of recruiting thro employment agencies etc. People who are interested should apply online thro the companies website and if you are good enough, they will learn to absorb employees directly. :)

They delibrately recruit you through temping agencies and employment agencies, so that they can fire you or hire you anytime they want .

They don't have to pay you severance pay , full time benefits , drug plan, eye care plan etc if they hire you through agencies. Its hard to get rid of a permanent FT employee due to employment laws and unions etc. you need a very valid cause and just cause to do that.

But when you come through agencies you are the agecie's employee and can be expolited and got rid of without paying proper dues and severances.

I know companies which keep on hiring you on contract basis and only through agencies just to exploit people, sad but true :(.. And these agencies just keep getting their cut.

The agencies have almost become like the HR department of the company by screening clients, interviewing them et al ..this keeps the companies over heads low and the agecy also gets its cut.

Win Win situation for both the agency and the company at the cost of the poor employee :(

If the job is $ 20/hr the agency will pay you $ 14/hr and keep the difference .

The company doesn't care whether they are paying you $ 20/hr or the employment agency $ 20/hr as their cost remains the same.

In return the agency does all the dirty work for them and the company acts as a saint :(.. And pretends they have nothing to do with it :)

That absorbing you as a regular employee almost never happens :( for 90 % of the people. That's just a dangling of carrot in front of you to make you work like a donkey so that you think one day you will become permanent.

Lot of gaddhas working like that.lol :(

If you ask the employers, they say due to high labour turnover (i.e people leave the job coz it's tough) they don't want the headache of paperwork and legal formalities so they use employment agencies and absorb only serious employees. :(

If they paid the employees what they are supposed to pay them i.e their real market rate..only then the employee will be serious.

Why would the employee be serious, when he knows his job is $ 20/hr and that's what the company is paying the employment agency , but he is only getting $ 14/hr ..that leads to dissatisfied employees as they know they are being exploited leading to high turnover and attrition.

Employment agencies treat you like crap..lot of uneducated and low level people working in the recruiting industry..they know next to nothing, besides taking their cut and commission. They have NO loyalty towards you and vice versa.

I have worked through such agencies before, where some uneducated GORI receptionist and secretary thinks she knows something about the industry you work in..she has NO technical knowldege or aptitude. I have laughed on the face of some of these GORiS and GORAS in agencies..and quit after getting the reuired experience and training ..he he :)

I have exploited them before they could exploit me..lol..they thought I am some stupid immigrant who is going to be grateful to them for the rest of my life for taking a cut for my salary :(

I told them you have this job bcoz of me..you get your salary bcoz of me..you are just a Middleman or woman ..he he :) ..some of them have blacklisted me now ..he he ;)..these fools are so cheap that they even had the nerve to call me back if I would be interested in working for them in future..that's how desperate some of these Employment agency crooks are.

ALL the GENERAL LABOUR jobs in factories and warehouses in Canada are run through these crooks :(
