Fido,
Accepted.
As an Architect and social planner, unless your campus, town is big, you are essentially in box and will curtail your freedom. I hate U of W campus as it is too small and not up to the mark. But again, this is my personal view.
You will be surprised to note that FB and Google also come to IIT Madras (to recruit to USA). See their website. If they can come to Chennai why woun't they come to Waterloo. BTW, FB and Google also come to 2nd. rate private universities like VIT, Hindustan (all in TN) to recruit for their Indian office (possibly their foreign office too). I will visit their websites tomorrow and revert.
Waterloo is a small town. Very limited possibilities and outside exposure (unless you are in IT or Physics) and you will be exposed to professor's research only.

Co-op and internship are loosely interchanged with each other in the use of terminology. Conceptually, they are both one and the same. What the intern probably is referring to is the mandatory credit hours required in the form of co-op in order to graduate. If that is the case, not all US Universities have that requirement, although a few do.
Whether it is mandatory or not, it is highly beneficial to work as an intern or co-op, at least in the last 2 years of the 4 year program. For one, the student gets real life industry experience, will be able to provide credible references, earn the so called Cdn experience (if in Canada), grow a professional network at a very young age, and develop a sense of industry trends and preferences.
From a soft skill perspective, a fresh graduate with prior internship/co-op experience tends to demonstrate an improved communication and interpersonal skills, in addition to self-confidence.
Plus you also have to see how easy is it for you & your spouse to get a vistor visa to US or Canada , if you want to visit your daughter on campus ?
Or if there is some emergency & she needs your help ?
I have friend who has a 10 yr multi entry visitor visa to US . So he sent his kids to US for further education , as visiting them etc is NOT a big issue for him . But his kids came here for MS , not bachelor's degree. Not sure if they sponsored his 10 yr multi entry US visitor's visa or not
adamthroat : my family including my daughter seeking admission in US have 10 years valid B1/B2 Visa of US . It's still valid for another 8 years. They have visited US multiple of times in the past. But she will have to apply for F-1 in case she wants to pursue studies in US.
hii .. I think for your daughter's student visa there is no issues . for free assessment visit here Advertising references removed
Bharath,
No need. You will charge money for a straight forward case. (Firest visit will always be free but then you will convince for the second paid visit)
Thanks but No thanks.
