Yup just the recruiting company will make money ..& these commission only based guys will make next to nothing. The split is not going to be 50-50.

Note : I am not accusing anyone or pointing that the OP is an exploiterm but only telling a side of a story. So please donot shoot me.

As you all know, IT jobs in Canada are plenty and sometimes there are not takers. So employers are ready to work through agents to see that the positions are filled. This was especially true during the Blackberry hey days !

The moduls operandi is as follows :

1. The owner will see openings coming up (workopolis / job bank / monster/ company website) and then call the employer / HR and tell them that they will supply them with people. They will zero in on one month salary as commission. Initial people will give an assurance that they will only take the commission, if the candidate works for min 1 month. The owner also will not stop with only one

2. Next, the owner will pass this information to gullible desi people working under him.

3. These gullible desi people will spend nights / days researching workopolis / monster and get recent immigrants and send them to eomployer.

4. May be an employer will recruit and pay 1 month saalary after 1 month (Say $ 3000).

5. Owner will pass on $ 500 to the gullible desi and pocket $ 2500. Owner has no obligation. It is just a business skill.

6. If match is not found, owner will blame desi that they are not good and are not working properly.

As CD's we must put a stop to this kind of exploitation. But on second thought's, the govt., itself exploits immigrants, so why not?

Canada is now in a recession. So people will do anything for commission or little money. Immigration levels have not changed significantly.
This is a good time to exploit people (by seniors who have lived through the strom's).
when I came to Canada in 2002, I received calls by Amways and Primerica. Both said that they have seen my resume on Workopolis and wanted to offer me a job. I paid money to take the TTC, eating at KFC to meet them (when some of my friends immeidately joined a gas station job for $ 8 cash an houir)

Lot of funda's were told. Lot of $ was mentioned. They also mentioned that I will pay for buying my stuff by the commissions were wonderful figures. Obviously I did not join.

As recent as 2009 (during peak recession), I went to ADT selling (on commission). Atleast they promised $ 1600 a month should I bring them 2 people willing to talk about buying ADT (No need of them buying ADT but I will have to call ADT office from their landline).

Next on Canada's employer's agenda is giving training to candidates for free. Already it exist as volunteer experience.

Je Suis Exploitation !

so put a add for : "Sales person needed with technical background on commission basis" - - Must ask for resume along with cover letter - only by email.

Remember DO NOT mention: work from home, or flexible time - it will raised flag to candidate mind.

when you get few resume setup interview and discuss personally - if candidate show up at interview means they are in need of job.

There are lot of people looking to work flexible hours but they are afraid of scams- u got to meet them in person.

So basically lie to people & tell them its not a work from home job, when it is a work from home job, as I don't think the company is giving them a cubicle in their office to work from.

So what's going to happen , when this person comes for interview & finds out its a work from home job, he is going to take off. So basically you have wasted your time & the persons time , who came for the interview.

Who said to lie ??? people need job - you tell them in interview face to face - if they see opportunity then its win win for both... if not they walk out - Remind you not every one is lucky to have good job - nothing wrong trying.

dont get too personal on this issue... its better then those scamming company at least OP meet them in person and explain.

i personally don't like Amay , ACN kind of business but that does not give me right to criticize them - if person like that kind of work and earn money nothing wrong on it.

ppl make leaving with collecting cans from garbage - Boss don't judge people's need, not everyone is lucky

There is a Hindi idiom: Shaque ki koi dawa nahin

Thanks Dimple, Blue Peafowl, TK and Adamthorat for all your opinions.

I find that many people are fixed and rigid in their opinions and beliefs. This may be due to their life experiences. But - as time goes by - they start rejecting any suggestion or idea that does not conform to what they believe is right. This prevents them from growing themselves - as individuals personally or even professionally.

At the very outset - it was explained in clear language that this is NOT MLM. Only commission - works for car/insurance/home - salesman. The amounts are large.

I take affront to the word "exploitation" - my dear friends - this whole idea was the opposite. We must weigh our words and understand the credibility and standing of the opposite person - before we make such crude accusations.

What we are and where we are in life - is a sum of the choices we make - be it in our words or actions.

How much "hard work" can be too much - when sitting at home on your computer and making calls? Isn't it better than spending on multiple modes of transport / Childcare / office attire - in extreme weather.

If a person was to work 168 hours in a Tim H/McD - how much does that person end up really making -'after deducting all the costs? Plus the neglecting of family that eventually comes in.

If by putting in 8 hours of diligent work (in a field where you have the background) - can earn you equivalent or more money - why should that be termed "exploitation"?

We need to see who is talking - what they are saying - what they are meaning to say - and then make an informed decision. Please refrain from measuring everything by the same yardstick.

There is no motivation for me or my friend - to make money off "gullible" people. We have found our successes in life.

Every businessman needs to find a model that makes the most money for him. It does not make him evil. He helps society / economy - when job / wealth creation is done.

I shall find my own solutions. We must do - what we must do. Appreciate the suggestions by all the members. But I frankly see no point in continuing this discussion - which will degenerate into a volley of accusations and he said -she said. In the end - all we want to do - is to help the hand that gives (rather than be - the hand that takes).

Thanks Blue Peafowl. A few negative people or comments do not or should not put a dent in our intentions.

Appreciate your help. This shall not affect my plans in the least 😊

I shall use this forum with more discretion, going forth.

This model has picked up a lot in USA where many desi house wives who were formerly Computers educated or acquired computer skills have started doing recruitment front agent.
I am not sure what way it reflects exploiting, it drives the rate down in contracting when aggressive agent try to negotiate lower than the ceiling they are notified. In most, cases employer stands the loser hence employers have started pressing agencies not to commit any one below certain rates.
At the least this doesn't involve upfront investment like those notorious cases plus the first layer of barrier to employment.
:) As an IT contractor, I don't like business thrive as it remotely hurts, but again I can't control how the world operates. Part and parcel of survival.
