TN is a very well developed state.
Mr. KK brought in bridges to Chennai in 1990's and then JJ brought all automobile and electronic and IT companies to Chennai. Thus TN has become a very good industrialized state (though Chennai is responsible for 70% of it).
If only TN was ruled by a honest man / woman (like Modi), it would have become one of the model states of the country. However, these 2 parties have swindled TN and made TN people a laughing stock.
This will keep on going in the near future.

Murali The Krishna.

Jayalalitha list of crimes !

http://www.indiafacts.co.in/nemesis-knocks-jayalalithaas-door/#.VDWy9_ldU4I

..... The article goes into more detail , but below is the summary.

1. Pleasant Stay Hotel Case

2. Burning alive of three college girls by AIADMK men after she was convicted and sent to prison

3. Killing two journalists working for Tharasu, a political journal given to borderline libellous reportage and sensationalism

4. TANSI Acquisition of Government land Case

5. TIDCO SPIC disinvestment Case

6. Throwing acid on IAS officer VS Chandralekhas face for resisting the fraudulent disinvestment

7. Multi crore colour TV scam case

8. Obscenely ostentatious marriage of Jayalalithaas foster son V Sudhakaran

9. Bringing about the utter ruination of Balu of Balu Jewellers who died an unnatural death under suspicious circumstances

10. Arresting both Pontiffs of the Sree Kanchi Matham and pushing the matham to the verge of complete destruction

11. Rs. 66 crore disproportionate assets case

If to this long and shameful list were added the innumerable homes of celebrities and real estate forcibly acquired from their owners under threat of death and ruination, four years imprisonment seems grossly inadequate although given her age and the cut throat nature of Tamil Nadu political parties, evicting Jayalalithaa for ten years from electoral politics is just desserts.

.......

Even when JJ's opponents were routed in the assembly and 2014 elections, they were taking solace about the DA case in Bangalore.

As of today, JJ wants to emulate Modi and Gujarat and make TN better than Gujarat. She sincerely believes it is possible.

JJ's past deeds have caught up with her and she has to suffer for associating with the wrong people. Both Congress (ruling Karnataka) and DMK (who filed this case) not being able to defeat her in elections because of their own misdeeds are naturally taking advantage and make her more miserable.

She was the WRONG person herself too, its not just about her associating with wrong people. She was fully aware of what was going on and was an active party to it as it benefited her immensely.

JJ wants TN to be better than Gujarat ?? For that first she has to be like Modi, only then it wil be possible.
That's never going to happen as she is never going to be uncorrupt like Modi .

Do you think she was ever going to give up her ill gotten wealth and crores of jewellery, real estate etc on her own and pay for all the murders, hooliganism, goondagiri, threats , reign of terror for which she was directly or indirectly responsible on her own ? NO . The court & people forced her to do that.

She was in power & politics for 20 + years , she had plenty of opportunities to make TN like Gujarat, but the only thing she did was to benefit herself & her cronies & not the people of TN.

Not saying DMK or Congress are any better, but JJ was the worst of the lot. DMK's & Congress's day is also going to come sooner or later.

All the list pertains prior to 2011. In this case there is more politics than meets the eye.

When JJ took over in 2011, Modi and Gujarat were already very popular. JJ is suffering from No.1 Syndrome and whatever she does she wants to be the best, may be including corruption. But during this term she has been very successful with her Amma canteens, water, small buses etc., the lower strata of the society are entirely with her.

Both Kanimozhi and Raja are out on bail on 2G scam after making a loss of 1.76 lac crores to the government, but a section of the people are not that vocal about their roaming outside. If JJ should not be given bail, the mentioned duo should also be in prison.

We have strong suspicion that the judge was prejudiced because of JJ fighting tooth and nail for the Cauvery water, finally winning the case and have it in published in the Gazette in spite of herculean efforts by Karnataka to stop it.

Earlier and even now, Karnataka is treating the Cauvery NOT as an inter-state river BUT only as a storm water drainage system, which not affects but threatens the very existence of the people of Tamil Nadu.

Karunanidhi, always known for his "patriotism" for the nation, state or even his native district, declared in the State Assembly in 70s that Karnataka can build any number of dams. He said so only for the sake of electoral alliance with Indira Congress to defeat Kamaraj and probably because of the affection he had for his daughter living in Bangalore. His statement terribly complicated the issue. If what Karnataka is doing is right, then all Ganges water should belong only to Uttarakhand or Assam and the whole of North India will only starve. That Cauvery is not perennial like Ganges only means that water all the more should be "shared" and not "given" as if charity. All the experts and the learned judges of the Supreme Court realise but never was Karnataka.

The farmers of Tamil Nadu know that it was JJ who made "Bagirtha's" efforts to win Tamil Nadu's case.

Thus for Karnataka, this wealth case came on a golden plate and it did not want to miss the opportunity.

ramar,

Please don't paint a political picture for JJ issue. She did the wrong and is paying for it. You are an educated person and should know the diff. between right and wrong. And u know it, but out of fear may be u don't want to accept that she has done the wrong.

Karnataka has nothing to do with it. The case was moved from Chennai as she would influence the witnesses and bribe the system. Everyone knows it. I hope they move her out of Bangalore to anywhere hell in Tamilnadu so that it would be their headache.

One thing I appreciate her is her guts. She is a south indian brahmin (Iyengar) who has ruled the state where Brahmins are looked down.

This case is not just economic offences alone as it was filed in the name of their number 2 in hierarchy Anbazhagan by the DMK.

There is a strong possibility that the judge was swayed by the sentiments of the local people in Bangalore/Karnataka in denying bail, as JJ fought for every drop of Cauvery water denied to the state.

We are concerned about the future of TN following JJ's absence as CM. Many lumpen elements form themselves into groups and claim to be political parties. In TN, if we divide the political scene into anti-secessionist and secessionist forces, only AIADMK, Congress and BJP can qualify for the former. As the Congress and BJP presence are almost nil, it is the AIADMK and JJ alone can shoulder the responsibility.

The Supreme Court will decide today whether JJ deserves bail. Veteran journalist and political commentator Mr.Cho in his recent issue of his Thuglak magazine has stated that usually the following points are taken into account for granting bail. Whether the person requesting for bail
1. will jump the bail and run out of the country.
2. will tamper with the witnesses.
3. will again commit the same offence when let off.
Considering JJ's age, health and stature, and the verdict already given, she would not commit any such offence.

In addition, the Judge who refused bail, has stated that he had already read the verdict and was convinced that JJ had committed the offences for which she is punished and hence there was no need for her to come out and hence has to serve the jail term.

In effect, the Judge while refusing bail has also taken the role of higher court judges.

Meanwhile, if JJ has to undergo the punishment for corruption and illegal wealth, there should not be different yardstick for others. For instance, the Modi government has with great fanfare announced that a special team will be visiting Switzerland for enquiry on black money deposited, whereas according to newspaper reports, even as early as 2009, care had been taken to warn the wealthy to remove their money from their Swiss bank accounts. Now the wealth might have been hidden further deep in West Indies islands. Thus there is no sincerity from this government too.

As a sample case, there is the story of this IAS couple which came out in the recent issue of the Outlook magazine. Even from TTK days, the North seems to apply different yardsticks for sins committed by the corrupt.

News item appearing in OUTLOOK MAGAZINE "FLIGHT FANTASTIC" By K.S. Shaini in Bhopal

Income Tax Findings
3 Crore Cash:Rs 3 crore in Indian currency and Rs 7 lakh in foreign exchange
Rs 67Lakh Jwellery
78Bank ACs
Rs 270 CroreStocks/Futures Trade
25 Flats18 in Guwahati, 6 in Bhopal and one in Delhi
400Acres land
Rs 9.83 CroreBank deposits

Even the long arm of the law finds it hard to get in its grasp Arvind and Tinu Joshi, the infamous IAS couple suspended and then dismissed for amassing disproportionate assets. The couple is believed to have flown abroad. No one seems to know how this happened. Raided in February 2010 and suspended the next month, the officers were dismissed four years on, in July this year. Facing corruption charges, during trial, they failed to appear even once before the court. Eventually, non-bailable warrants were issued on August 28. Police failed to find them in Bhind and Delhi. Clearly nobody thought of impounding their passports. But what if they have already flown out and decided not to return, ask lawyers, who say the Joshis didnt apply for anticipatory bail either.

It took the department of personnel and training (DOPT) three years to approve their dismissal. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) too seems to waited more than nine months. When the dismissal notification was finally issued, they had disappeared.

It was known that Arvinds two sisters are settled abroad. The couples children too were studying abroad when their sprawling bungalow in the posh Char Imli area of Bhopal was raided in February 2010. Income-tax sleuths found a box filled with wads of currency notes in a loft. The lock had to be broken after Tinu refused to provide the keys. It yielded Rs 3.04 crore in cash (see box for details). Arvind was the principal secretary in the water resources department at the time. Tinu headed the woman and child development department.

No one seems to have thought of impounding the Joshis passports. Now, sleuths say, they could have left India.

Soon the enforcement directorate and the Lokayukta got into the picture. Their 78 bank accounts were frozen. Their properties were attached and a notice for recovery of Rs 135 crore tax was slapped on them in 2012. But while the income-tax department submitted a 7,000-page report to the state government, the state government took its own time, two full years, before granting permission in 2012 to the Lokayukta to prosecute the couple. When the chargesheet was filed, the couple were accused of acquiring disproportionate assets worth only Rs 36 crore. Officials at the Lokayuktas office said the income-tax department used current value of the property, but the Lokayukta went by the price of acquisition.

Arvinds father H.M. Joshi, a former DGP of the state police, had enjoyed a reputation for honesty. A simultaneous raid at his place in February 2010 had revealed Rs 1.99 lakh in cash, and he and his wife are among the 18 accused in the case. They are out on bail. Even four and half-years after the raid, many questions remain unanswered. It is not known whether the wealth was amassed by Arvind or Tinu or whether it was a joint endeavour, though those in the know say that they were perfect foils to each other.

The Joshi couple, their friends in the bureaucracy now say, had a lavish lifestyle. From the crockery at their home to their pleasure trips, it was clear that money was never a problem. Every other day, they hosted parties, the high and the mighty were entertained and expensive liquor flowed like water, says a retired IAS officer, who lived a few houses away from them. None of the agencies has bothered to investigate the modus operandi of the couple or tried to find out where the money trail led to.

This is the main reason that corruption has flourished in India.

Every time you catch a corrupt politician or person, you get their sympathizers crying blue murder.

From Cauvery to Congress to North South divide everything has been blamed for amma's trip to prison.

In my opinion BJP returned the favor she had given them in early 1999 when Atal G was PM for 13 days !!!!

Puttoo, it seems has lost all the balance and finds BJP responsible for everything. I am sure Puttoo will, one fine day wake up and post a thread on CD blaming Modi for Ebola.
