The special court in Bangalore gave its verdict and convicted JJ in the disproportionate asset case. This took 18 yrs since she used every trick in the book to stall the case. The gutsy judge in Bangalore threw the rule book on her. She cant contest election for 6 yrs after completing her sentence.

Let's see. Rs. 5 crore for her foster son's wedding in 1996 when she was drawing rs. 1 per month as salary when she was the CM. This was the main issue for the case and brought her down now.
24 kg of gold, 750 pairs of footware, and thousands of expensive silk sarees found in her house. She's single with no family. Then why all these for.

She started Amma;s canteen in Tamilnadu recently. Now the canteen in the Bangalore jail can be called as Amma's canteen.

Good work of the judiciary.
I was to go to Chennai today and return the same day but because of this, I am not able to go as people say that the situation is tense and that Canadian citizens better avoid chennai.
However, what is not being said is that she was drawing Rs 1 per month as salary and that she had disproportionately amassed Rs 66 crore. How can the court fine Rs 100 crore? For sure she has Rs. 100 crore. Her party can give the Rs 100 crore (black) but how will that be accounted?
Hope this will be made clear soon by the media.
I live in a state other than TN and every one was keenly watching the internat and were broadcasting Amma's each and every verdict / step. She enjoys a cult leader like status all over India.

TK, it is 100 crores total fine, 25 crores each for J. Jayalalitha and three other accused are V.K. Sasikala, Sasikala's nephew V. N. Sudhakaran and sister-in-law J. Illavarasi.

To my knowledge, the penalty is Rs.100 crores for JJ alone.

We expect all corrupt politicians to be punished. But we are surprised how the Dona at Delhi is able to escape, even from the days of Narasimha Rao or Vajpayee. Swamy says that as per Boris Yeltsin (former Head of Russia) the KGB had regularly paid Rajiv Gandhi family. If JJ can be faulted to have 66 crores, and get 4 years, the other lady supposedly having 660,000 crores or more, does she not deserve more punishment, say 40 years in jail.

Meanwhile shocked to read the article in the latest issue of Outlook magazine about this IAS couple, whom we have been hearing since 2010, they did not even bother to seek anticipatory bail, but have simply vanished. One thing is sure that, it could not have happened with the connivance of the civil service officers.

Karnataka high court today rejected bail plea by JJ. Ram Jethmalani was her lawyer who tried hard to get her out somehow. The gutsy judge upheld the law and denied the bail to JJ. She will go to supreme court for bail and probably lose there also. Hope JJ is moved to Chennai jail so that she will not be a headache for the Karnataka govt.

The defence lawyers were arguing for bail and the prosecution lawyer had said that he had no objection. But the judge was prejudiced in denying bail to JJ.

JJ is getting punished not for her anti-people past but for her today's pro-people policies by a cartel of corrupt politicians, businessmen and media .

In Times Now channel Arnab Goswami was repeatedly badgering the AIADMK panelists about JJ's wealth and compared this to A. Raja& Kanimozhi's 2G scam and Lalu's fodder scam. He was also sarcastic about poor people provided subsidised food and clean water through "Amma" brand which have become most popular with the masses that she was given almost 40 seats in the last MP elections. But it is OK if the rich steal the subsidy given for the diesel by fitting their cars with diesel engines.

The essential difference between Raja, Kanimozhi and Lalu were jailed for specific scams, and in this case of JJ is that there was no such scam. She was not able to explain how she had accumulated her wealth. But she was the number one star in both Tamil and Telugu cinema for nearly 10 years. As a leading film star and chief minister of a state she might have been meeting the rich and famous.

If people have to be put in jail and denied bail for just hiding wealth, then all of today's Bollywood stars and corporate people will find themselves in prison.

Having been rejected by the people of TN in the 2014 elections, their own organisations in tatters, both DMK and Congress have staged this coup on a democratically elected government in TN.

In this both DMK and Congress are not bothered about the government coming to a standstill and the people getting affected, because both of them are basically family centric and have become anti-people.
