Valid point ! Evaluation criteria will be subjective.
Out of 5, the reference which is given more number of time can be chosen, Once I had option of choosing between 2 referred lawyers, I chose the lawyer who was nearer to my home so that in case there are frequent visits to be made, I am doing that comfortably.
Another example, In my relations , all over GTA there are 4-5 people who do real estate, All solid references. (including some from my wife side relatives, an added pressure ;-) ), I did not chose any relative, I went for one of my long term friend who is also real estate agent, with him I took full liberty and time to chose my house. Some relatives felt bad, but now I know why they were spending time with me :-).

Aashu - I will send you a PM - this lawyer has been used by me - and Indian lady, and we are good friends now. I am going to use her for for next condo purchase which will be ready by end of 2015. Her office is in Scarborough but she lives not far from you in Vaughan.
