The full day KG will be effective in all schools as of Sept 2014, where kids will be kept from 9 am till 3.30 noon more of day care cum play atmosphere. The school in my area (Mississauga) starts with this prog this year and my daughter has been registered for KG 1.
What I would like to know is if anyone has their child enrolled in this prog so far (as many schools have begun with this earlier as they were doing it partially areawise) and if its mandatory to keep my child till 3.30 noon instead of just the normal 3 hrs KG timings that they had all along. She is just a beginner and would like the change to be gradual for her and I fear it will too much on her to be there for the whole day. Worried mom!

My daughter went to KG1 with 1/2 day school and KG2 with full day school - but they have school on alternate days. Did not notice any tiredness - infact she was excited on school days since they had lots of activities for the kids.
I can understand your anxiety - but dont worry. The ECE are well qualified and experienced at handling kids that age and will make your child's transition very smooth. You might be allowed to hang around a bit for the first few days - eventually you will see how easily the kids adapt. Just ensure they get good sleep at night, wake up fresh and have sufficient breakfast before going to school. Pack their favorite snacks and everything will be great.
As parents it is quite natural to be worried, but we should not under estimate the adaptability of kids.
Good luck to both of you.

Hiren is right in asking you to spend a day or two hanging around the class just to see what transpires in the class and get to know first hand as to what happens in their classes.
First thing you will notice is the energy levels that these kids have in them and how fast they feel the classes got over. The next thing is that they also get some sleep time squeezed into their curriculums. They all just stay put so quietly and hit the sack like the Hungarian Pee Wees- GUMBAH.... ( I just made that up.)
And my first day experience.: Our kids went into the KG classes and occupied the front row seats, after they gave us a hug. No whimpering or tears. They just slid down into the class like sliding on the GHAZARPATTI. (Made that up too.) We stood outside, far away from their sights, with our backs to the wall. But Boy-O-Boy did we see the other Parents cry their hearts out. I could not make up my mind whom to console, the Parents or the kids that is being dragged in. The separation was unbearable. You could feel the elasticity snapping as they went farther apart. Oh what a sight. I would have said it is O.K. for the first day, because the Mother is going to miss her daughter/son, but this went on for a few more days and every day the ritual was an expected thing. I think the Schools should leave a box of tissues for the Parents use, just in case.... OR may be the TOWEL dispensing machine for those who shed a lot of tears...Mmmm.
Only if one of the kids returned and said to their parents..."Stop Crying" !! That would have broken the cycle.!

I had the same situation 2 yrs ago when my son started JKG and Peel brd made it full day since then in my area school.
My son is Dec 23 born so youngest in class, we were worried as hell. talked to the principal, vice principal and did 15 days half day. You can drive her to school at 12noon and bring back at 3.00. You will have to talk to the principal to let her do it for little while until she gets comfortable for full days.
If u get the bus service, they wont pick her at 12 it is your responsibility to drop her at 12 but drop off will be done by bus at 3 pm.
We did it for him 2 weeks and then he was all set to go full day and was ok.
Make her potty trained/ keep one set of clothes incl underpants in the school incase
I think she will be fine..
