My uneducated guess is that this is the end of Gandhi's (not congress) - Sonia is not fit and Rahul is lacking in skills. A shrewd politician like Modi will ensure that they are never able to dominate the congress ever (he will have ample support from other non-gandhi congress men). This will be an admirable achievement on its own.

BJP have rarely given more than deserved position to anyone.

Just a few examples: Shotgun Sinha has been long with BJP, but they never let him rise above his caliber. The Grand Son of Lal Bahadur Shastri - Siddharth Nath Sinh - have been long with BJP, and he is treated based on his merit.

The same goes true with both the above Gandhis.

Above all, Modi is not a person who will involve in any such activity and will not tolerate any such activity. (And that is what triggered some opposition in Gujarat BJP, when he first time became CM and he sidelined some of the old-timers but non-performers, including former CMs)

A Proud Indian Canadian

India desperately needs a left of center party that is nationalist in character and national in scale/presence. Congress is India's pedigreed party and deserves to be in that position.

P.V. Narasimha Rao tried purging from Congress the current foreign interests, almost succeeded. I think it can be done. This is a golden opportunity to remove all the chamchas and puppeteers. Unfortunately, the slaves in India are hooked on to the Nehru clan like drugs.

The party of Gandhi, Bose, Patel, Ghokale, Tilak etc deserves better. India deserves better.

Amethi has more than 100,000 Muslim voters. There is a theory that some EVMs were manipulated / programmed to get votes for Rahul Gandhi despite people voting for Irani. Goal was to somehow get mom and son to win. The duo did not care who won or lost in their party. Hope the new govt gets it cracking on Vadra. This will bring down Priyanka Gandhi, assuming she cares for her husband. Well, this is politics. She may just dump him and say that she does not know him.
