Hearty Congrats to Modi and BJP !

I believe the change of guard at the center was a forgone conclusion and the seat was Modi's to lose right from the beginning. Appreciate his handling of the entire campaign to ensure there are no slips and the message is delivered well. It indeed is a tough job to campaign for almost a year without any hiccups and loss of intensity & focus.

Here's wishing he fulfills most of his promises...

My uneducated guess is that this is the end of Gandhi's (not congress) - Sonia is not fit and Rahul is lacking in skills. A shrewd politician like Modi will ensure that they are never able to dominate the congress ever (he will have ample support from other non-gandhi congress men). This will be an admirable achievement on its own.

I'd love to see what happens to the Nehru-Gandhi-Vadhra family. Seems like the people had enough of them.

Way to go..Modi bhai

Now we might see Gujarati being mandatory for all Public Sector jobs ;)

You're really underestimating the power of sycophency then. Congress party is the properietorship of Gandhi family. Regardless of the country's fate, the party reigns will always be with Gandhis. If it had to happen, the ripe time was during Lal Bahadur Shastri's time. However, with his untimely and mysterious death (conspiracy theories galore) in Tashkent, Congress had gone to the Gandhis forever. Don't keep high hopes with them. I am, however suprised and shocked at Amethi and Rae Bareilly Junta - what do they see in these two mother-son dumbo combo time and again. May God help them. As said earlier as well, good riddance.

Lol Gandhis are still in ruling party , you forgot Maneka and Varun Gandhi.
he he Man, they are every where !! :-(

and the congi Gandhis are still elected MPs and they have some state govts running. Priyanka showed lot of promise and charisma through her speeches. I think she made it possible for Rahul from Amethi. and 5 years down the line , as much as Modi will be careful, some rotten apples in BJP will bring the anti-incumbency...

I hope they just leave, although I know they won't. But this is an existential question for Congress because to date, the party = this family. If this family does not exist, Congress's avatar changes drastically.

I think their strategy originally was to blame MMS and leave the family out of it, but this has backfired roundly. Because even people who think MMS did nothing know that he is an intelligent capable nice guy who was completely stifled by Sonia/Rahul. He just comes as so meek that the public (even BJP supporters) will jump to defend him if Congress tries to lay blame on him.

Modi is smart enough to know that he does not want to make this victory a one-time anomaly. He's already talked about it in his victory speech. Hopefully he sees these guys off at the airport and they disappear from the Indian political radar forever.

p.s. - I really hope they find a way to sideline that Advani quickly. He's really lost his mind, still has a hard time acknowledging that this massive victory was due to Modi. Or like they say in Hindi, Buddha sahtiya gaya hai.

lol.. Give this poor old chap a break man! Here's this guy waiting for years to be a PM, and now completely shown the door by a junior colleague who eclipsed him in a few months. Advani is bound to be an angry old man. We may however see him as the next President of India, just as happened with Pranav Mukherjee.

LKA should be happy nonetheless, for 'bhaagtey bhoot ki langoti (literally) hi sahi".

:) I don't feel he deserves it, but whatever it takes to shut him up. At this point, he's just embarrassing himself and the party...

Sorry .. Did not realize that.. He..he.. But as we can see they don't enjoy the celebrity status as their siblings in Cong. And modi will ensure they stay in their respective places..

BJP have rarely given more than deserved position to anyone.

Just a few examples: Shotgun Sinha has been long with BJP, but they never let him rise above his caliber. The Grand Son of Lal Bahadur Shastri - Siddharth Nath Sinh - have been long with BJP, and he is treated based on his merit.

The same goes true with both the above Gandhis.

Above all, Modi is not a person who will involve in any such activity and will not tolerate any such activity. (And that is what triggered some opposition in Gujarat BJP, when he first time became CM and he sidelined some of the old-timers but non-performers, including former CMs)

India desperately needs a left of center party that is nationalist in character and national in scale/presence. Congress is India's pedigreed party and deserves to be in that position.

P.V. Narasimha Rao tried purging from Congress the current foreign interests, almost succeeded. I think it can be done. This is a golden opportunity to remove all the chamchas and puppeteers. Unfortunately, the slaves in India are hooked on to the Nehru clan like drugs.

The party of Gandhi, Bose, Patel, Ghokale, Tilak etc deserves better. India deserves better.
