I am not happy with my family doctor at all, 3 years back i found her just because nobody else was available & i didn't have a car.
Now i am really frustrated with her services as for every problem (no matter what ) she will ask you take Tylenol etc ,
So how to find new family doctor , do i need to transfer my current medical records ? , Can we have more than 1 family doctors ?
Please guide
It is not a problem.
Just find a new family doctor who is willing to enroll you (Remember that even in 2005), the family doctors conduct a personal interview / ask to fill a questionairre where they will ask details of past family doctor and why you want to change. Just write some nice things.
If they are convinced, they will take you and they will ask to transfer your records to this one. This varies as per the doctor but it will be around $ 100 + charge for each page to be copied + courier charges. It is simple.
More hard is to find a family doctor who is taking new patients and that too desi. You will get only left overs. Choices are not like India. I would suggest that you locate a walk in clinic and try to find some good doctor.
The Irony in Canada is that though you have a family doctor, you can walk in umpteen times to any walk in clinic and expliot the cdn. medical system since it is totally free for consultation. You can find a good doctor through this hit and miss (totally paid by the Cdn. taxpayers) and it will not even go to your credit history.
All the best and update us.

To the OP:
Technically you are supposed to have only one family doctor but in reality, you can have more than 1. I have had at least 3 and in one someone else filled in the form to register for me.
Family doctor 3, was one of the best doctor's in Kitchener and 1 was referred to him by a refferral and that is how 1 got it. He asked me to transfer my records from Family doc 2. I called their office but they were asking for a fee and so I did not do it.
So you can have more than one.
Remember walking into your family doctor's office and finding atleast 2000 files. Is he the family doctor of 2000 people? No. May be just 500. 1500 are the ones who ran away from him. Medicine is a very big $ sucker profession in Canada.

Gurram,
Based on my experience, I would think otherwise.
Desi mentality is to cure then itself, so that the trouble is gone. So they prescribe antibiotics at the first stage itself.
Native Canadian doctors know only Tylenol. if it does not get cured by tylenol, then upteen tests will be done before the correct antibiotic is prescribed.
Once a child of my friend used to suffer weeks with running nose and nothing was prescribed. Then middle eastern doctor prescribed antibiotics and the cold was gone in a few days.
The parents told it to a native canadian doctor the next time, the child suffered from cold. He said cold is a virus and how can an antibiotic treat it. He got very angry with the parents. He said may be because of your pestering, the doctor gave you antibiotics.
So the parents, went to another walk in, to a senior Indian lady doc., and she prescribed antibiotics and the cold went away again.
However I agree that the desi mentality is to make more money .

Antibiotics for cold ....huh .
Seems Dr. now a days do not know the affects of antibiotics nor he knows how the immunity is built .
I will refrain to have antibiotics until it's unavoidable .
Right diagnostic is definitely a hit or miss with most Dr's here . Walk in's are worse .
