Hi CD's,
I was going through the website for info on career bridge and there is only little. Has anybody done their intern-ship there or know of somebody who did?
To kick-off career bridge application, I need to get my credentials assessed. Is U of T the best place to do it? A person told me that one can put "U of T engineering, comparative" in the education field of the resume and not mention where exactly one completed his/her engineering!
Another thing is PEO registration, would they do a separate assessment even after I have done it through U of T? Is the LIEP program good?
One more thing, I did my language assessment at YMCA and am at LINC 8. They suggest to take up either ELT or OSLT, are these programs useful? ELT seems to have a work placement program.
I'm actually a little confused on what to do next.
If you don't mind emailing me your resume, I wouldn't mind reviewing and possibly suggesting few career paths you could focus on. Let me know.

Good help for Lalitha, Dimple.
Also Lalitha, you can also e-mail me your resume and I will see how to fine tune it for you.
As people said to you, never mention your university. It scares the Canadians. They donot like 'Sri Rangacharya Achary Veepeetam university' and all.
During the later part of my stay in Canada, I openly put that I graduated from U of T, or Cenntenial college etc.. This looks good on your resume and Canadians will start calling you. Only once during an interview that the interviewer asked me to submit a xerox copy of my diploma (that was in Thunder bay) and I told him to buzz off.
Also don't mention that you just arrived in Canada. Say that you are here for over 3 or 4 years and put some company's name that you worked there. It will help you land interview and job and all. Just donot mention that you are a P Eng or affiliated to some
A lot of problem with immigrants is that they think that local Canadians are superior and that you should not lie and all. But once you get into the system, you will find that it is very common here. Also Canadian go by reference and not talent. So you need not worry !!!
Hope this helps.
Peace by Murali

I am a Gents and not a Ladies.
I don't condone lying. Employers can and do background checks including credit, criminal, education and employment histories. This is 2013, not 1985. Information is available readily from various sources and any misrepresentation can blow up on the candidates' face. But then, I guess there are shady employers just for shady employees, ain't it?

PLEASE DO NOT LE ON YOUR RESUME OR LISTEN TO ANY ADIVCE GIVN BY THIS TAMIL_KURAVAN GUY!! This guy doesn’t even live in Canada!!
In the information ages once can track down whether you’ve embellished on your resume and you don’t wanna be put in that embarrassing scenario.
Do make your resume to north american format, and yes a lot of job are based on networking so hit the pavement go out there put yourself out there don’t be the shy Indian

I'm sorry tk I'm against lying on resume, short term success is really not going to help one in the longer run. As dimple and proud canuck have mentioned background check is a norm these days. One will get a reference only if one has talent.
Dimple - I will forward my resume, thanks for the help.
