Hi CD's

My friend visited India for a couple of months and during the stay got flu that caused joint pains. Her diagnosis in India showed she did not have Dengue or chikungunya. She fought off the flue but the joint pains persist without change even after a month of being back in Canada. Medical Tests done here in Canada have shown nothing either. Practitioners have not been able to clearly identify what this is. If anybody has had the same experience and have had to deal with this situation, please get back to me asap.

Thanks for all your help

Joint pains are common and there are many reasons for that including Arthritis.
Her flue may not be the reason. If the pains bothers her ... have treatment done for joint pains.

Better contact the same doctor who treated her in India and ask them for a diagnosis.
I recently went through Dengue fever and Viral fever process (this happened to my friends). Viral fever persons experienced joint pains for a few days and not more than that.
This could be due to some viral cells which can be treated with only steroids. However only CT scans and MRI scans can confirm this. This may not be possible to be diagonised in Canada as there is a huge line up for these tests.
Kindly update the status for my information.
Peace

DENGUE and malaria and hepatitis are huge problems for visitor's to India.

Always take anti malaria tablets or hepatitis shots before going to India

There are not many Doctors that know anything about the Tropical Disesases here in Canada. So, forget about these canucks who run a clinic. Ask your friend to use any pain killer that suits her taste and her pockets, then use it for a few days till it finishes and see if it has helped your friend.
And 50% Canadians either have it or acquired it here. They all blame it on the climate and our dressing habits.

Joint pains arthro + -algos, is a symptom of injury, infection, or illnesses (in particular arthritis) or an allergic reaction to medication.[3]

This condition is true only if it is non-inflammatory, and the term "Arthritis" should be used when the condition is Inflammatory.

Only a Doctor or a Joint Specialist can examine and assess the condition and prescrbe medications to relieve its pain.

It could be Blood related or it could be Bones and Joints related, Then again we have to learn to live with it. Some times we have this condition prevailing with in us and a debilitating illness will set it off or trigger the on set of this condition.

There are common cures, which we call pain killers and the cheapest one that everyone knows is Aspirin. It is Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs. (When there is no warmth in the joints or heat generated with in the joints)

The next one that we all know is Arhtritis. And in its classification, there are a hundred sub groups and when one enters that category or even uses that term, the watch list gets big and it involves serious considerations of its control and its treatment just to get by each and every day. The worst one is the degenerative one. So, never ever use this term unless it needs to be controlled each and every day with care and medicines.

So leave it at the minor stage of joint pain, if at all possible.

Aspirin is used on an occasiontional basis to releive the pain. But it gets into the blood stream through the stomach and hence needs an enteric coated one to safegard the path it takes, till it hits the stomach. (So, they cover it with a small coating of plastic material that melts away after it hits the stomach walls. This coating has no ill effect in humans, being a film)

There are a few on the shelf that are made to provide immediate relief with one half of the tablet and the second half is made to dissolve in a timed release that will last an additional 12 hours. It contains particles that are coated medium to heavy which after consuming dissolves as programmed to do so.

The above TWO are for occasional usage and are not habit forming.

Voltaren Tablets : In different Strengths : http://bodyandhealth.canada.com/drug_info_details.asp?brand_name_id=240#Indication

Then there are others

Naproxen sodium (Anaprox, ...)
Flurbiprofen (Ansaid, ...)
Diflunisal
Piroxicam
Floctafenine
Indomethacin
Ibuprofen (Motrin, ...)
Naproxen (Naprosyn, ...)
Ketoprofen
Mefenamic acid
Nabumetone
Tiaprofenic acid
Ketorolac (Toradol, ...)
Etodolac
Oxaprozin (Daypro, ...)
Sulindac
Celecoxib (Celebrex, ...)
Meloxicam (Mobico

Also there are liquids and ointments that could be used to provide immediate relief by applying it to pain areas. They are only temporary and its effectiveness is very limited. They help you get by. They are,

RUB-A-535 http://ruba535.com/products/no-odour-arthritis-cream/

BUCKLEYS PAIN RUB : http://www.igenericdrugs.com/?s=Buckley%27s%20Pain%20Relief%20Rub

Then there are Liniments also called Balms : Aborbine Jr. http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=absorbine+junior&tag=googhydr-20&index=aps&hvadid=6961626637&hvpos=1s2&hvexid=&hvnetw=s&hvrand=1751733287498802904&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=e&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_7i93nfrsya_e

Minards and Sloans and then there are a few.

Voltaren Gel : http://saveyourself.ca/articles/voltaren-gel.php

Vovaren emulgel : http://www.4nrx.com/pain/Voveran-Emulgel-Diclofenac-Sodium.html

Light Exercises : Walk. Climbing Steps. and slow body movements as shown in TAICHI : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5hvODK2zW4

All of these to keep you in shape and keeping yourself mobile. These are controlled movements and create systematic improvements.

Also there is nothing like a tub bath that will normalize your body. Water at 99-102 degrees F and a few body salts or oils to mix in the water and a 20 -25 minute dip with a steady temerature and a warm drink to top off. (There is a risk of falling asleep and drowning, so be careful.)

Also ask her to follow the instructions given by her Doctor.

FH.

Enteric coated Aspirin.
BUCKLEY's Pain Rub.
Voltaren 50mg. (Or generic)
