I agree with Babloo on one thing. Students never go back. That is because they must have taken a high loan from India to come here and people would rather struggle here and save pennies to send to India rather than face their parents in India saying that the only job that they could get is Tim or Micky D's night time cleaner job.
The job situation is starkly different in USA where you have better oppertunities to find work once you graduate.
Canada is a hyped up place.

More than 7 years since I came back. Looks like the Canadian government has not stopped its "harvest" every year of people who are already confused and at the cross roads with regard to their education, career and their future and living in different parts of the world,

If you succeed they can safely claim that "you had it in you" and if not blame that you are no good.

How long are they going to carry on this racket?

Do they not have any sense of responsibility or accountability at their end?

Can we say the same thing about an aircraft every time it takes off, fly and land?
If the aircraft makes a successful landing or take-off the pilot and his crew are good. If not it is their own mistake. The aircraft manufacturer or maintenance staff will not have any responsibility or accountability. If that is OK, the Canadian government's role w.r. to immigration too is OK.

So when you went back, how much did govt of India help you out? The thing is that you moved at the right time and things worked out for you (hopefully) But you must be holding Canadian passport and your posts on this forum certainly shows the interest you still have in Canada.
As far as govt is concerned, what are your expectations? That they give you a job that too tailored for what you think you are best in? you must be kidding. I am not sure if there is any country in this world which offers the job with immigration. What this govt does is takes care of most basic necessities and most vulnerable elements of society. Child tax credits, accessible quality healthcare and quality education irrespective of income, OSA for the people who are not capable to earn are just some of the examples. Excellent infrastructure, safe living conditions and social system are some of the perks that you are getting in addition.
I am sure whoever went back to India must have tonne of complains for the govt over there as well...I dont have to list them here as you are living in those conditions.
Comparison to aircraft is amusing...

Before I post let me make it very clear that I am very interested in Desi's (from India or the Gulf) to move to Canada at any cost. I am not against that. Why I love to make them to go Canada is that they will have to work factory jobs or otherwise and pay taxes, cpp, ei etc.. This will benefit my fellow white canadians (and may be me too) by paying for healthcare, EI, GIS, OAS, CPP etc...
Again, a person leaving India, is a job gained in India. Thus India is able to life people out of poverty. We are in a situation where we donot get even a domestic help, talk about professionals (other than IT). IT people are available a dime to a dozen here (most of them not that brainy or experienced).

Getting a paid job is the key in any country. Simple. You get a decent job (as per your qualification and experience) then the country will be good. Does not matter if it is Sahara, Timbuktu, Somalia, Pune, Adiakkamangalam (India) or GTA.

Indian govt. is giving jobs to everyone who come back to India (as of now. GDP is going down for India, Rupee is becoming weaker and hence no one knows how long the booom will be for).

When India, does not give a job, may be the people of India might curse India and go to whichever country gives decent jobs for qualification.

If Canada woes people and does nothing to provide jobs for the immigrants, I will curse it. It is my right.

Peace by Murali

To the OP:
I read your mail in detail and these are my comments:

Since your rental value is more than your profit, rent the restaurant out permanently.

You have 2 or 3 options :

1. Immigrate to Australia based on your qualification. I heard that Australian immigration takes just a year. My feeling is that Australia may be a better place than Canada.

2. Never come to Australia / Canada on a student visa. It is a debt trap. There may be no jobs after you graduate and you may not be able to pay your study money. Febpreeth will totally agree with me on this idea. Even my destination would be Australia or the Gulf

3. You can try to get a 5 day or 5.5 day regular 9-5 jobs in Mumbai. With the Indian boom, it is easy to get those kinds of jobs. I agree that Mumbai can be suffocating. How about moving to Pune or Lavasa etc...?

4. UK is too costly, racist and unfriendly country for Desi's unless you take a boat (refugee).

Hope this helps.

peace by Murali.
