Just suspended? Just? They all should've been fired right away. But, hey! It's India. The suspended lot must've been told the air-light (in)action has been taken to silence the critics and the public for a few days. When the issue would all be dead, and everything is hunky-dory, they are put back on the job to make sure they crash the plane next time. Public memory is short anyway. Especially, when it's India's aam janta.

India that I left 8 years ago now look more heavenly and worth living than the one during present times. Strange, how much does time (and, politicians more so) change a country adversely.

You r right. There is a saying within the government circles that suspension = forced vacation. Either suspension or transfer. No one loses their job whatever wrong they do. That's the beauty of having a government job in India. Rules and policies are made to protect netas and babus. If even less than 0.5% of the babus lose their jobs through firings, things will change dramatically for good in India.

Lol! I understand that the pilots, in their defense have argued that the PM is sleeping at the wheels of economy which has drifted and now grounded, he is rewarded with praise and accolades. All that they did was to follow the PM. Why should they be suspended?

Tell me something, why would both the pilots left the wheel,
Did they not consider their own life valuable. ?
There should've been a reason they developed such comfort level.

Though this might be the first time both pilots have left the flight deck, it is not common for one pilots to leave the deck and the co-pilot to go to sleep.

Pilots leave the plane on autopilot and it flies by itself, giving the pilots the "false" sense of security that they can venture out or relax.

India bashing aside, this is very common problem globally and last time a survey by British Pilots found half the pilots slept on the flight deck.

One of worst air disasters in recent history was the crashing of Air France flight over Atlantic ocean. It seems the pilot was on his rest break and was sleeping when the flight ran in trouble during a thunderstorm. His delayed response to the emergency could have been a factor in the crash.

Am surprised that this has not landed on MMS/Sonia's door ;)
