That's the reason she was shifted to Singapore. Doctors joined hands with netas in this drama. Worst, they had not scanned her brain, as now the report from Singapore says that she had a major brain damage. How come the doctors in Delhi did not know this? Looks like they did not bother to scan or the machien was broken. Shame on the Safdarganj hospital docs.
RIP Damini !
Though several rapes occur every day in the world, Your situation/case is bound to bring a transformation in how rape cases are handled in India.
A similar situation happened in TN in the 90's when John David killed a student in the early 90's during ragging. Now ragging is banned in TN (However I passed out before this incident.). On a recent visit to my Indian univ. I was surprised to note the harsh punishment that would be metted out to potential raggers (which is quite severe and will result in expulsion / criminal charges) stuck at every entrance door of the university
Peace

My rant on this issue
IMO, capital punishment or lifetime imprisonment is not a deterrent for crime. It is akin to treating a symptom, not a disease. The rage on social media sites is hardly a catalyst for politicians and bureaucrats to modify a system that is established to achieve their own selfish goals. A legal system where money and political clout is a solution to every problem (Shiney Ahuja, Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Sanjeev Nanda) is bound to be exploited in favour of rich and wealthy. Until the hero worship and power distance remains in our society, such cases are bound to happen again.
For people who think this is the first case that stirred the nation's consciousness, read this

So what is the solution? Perhaps, political involvement of the young middle class demographic and a vow not to become a part of the system? May be. It is a solution that is very slow but is bound to give some results.

I have known KumarM to be a Kongi sympathiser but now Delhite has joined. May be he is reincarnation of Puttoo, a paid agent. Now Puttoo has been discredited, he seems to be in his new avatar.
MMS/Sonia, instead of beating agitators, should have taken some concrete actions to assure people. However, their moral compass is distorted and points only to the wealth and power. It cannot register any changes due to suffering of people.
Is capital punishment for rape really a possibility? India has 25,000 reported cases a year. India reserves capital punishment for rarest of rare cases. Even all murderers do not get capital punishment, so how will they justify that rape is a bigger crime than murder.
The whole mindset and society has to change before you see a reduction in this sort of crime.

The solution to the issue is build up of a society (and law) where tolerance to rape is zero. It should be inculcated in young minds as soon as they start to understand. Same as few decades ago it was cultural that meeting ones lover in public was prohibitted or kissing in public is today. The youth (specially of lower middle class down to poor) is just not educated on consequences, specially that technology today exist that one can be caught easily . The rapist in this case were not aware that the bus was photographed by the toll camera. The arrogance which prompted them to write 'Yadav' in big fonts on the bus , actually played their downfall. I am sure if they had fear of getting caught, they would have restrained.
Strangely this faction of society goes by the social stigmas more. People catch the cultural habits easily. Thus talking about rape, drugs and murder as much as Ravana and Kansa is talked about in Indian context will help. But who will talk about rape versus consensual intercourse in our fanatic society ? ? not to worry, the question can be tackled same as today nobody talks about love or sex but youth still knows about it automatically.
If minds are not cleared up and educated, rapes will still happen even if you have police man standing outside every door. So it is important to get educated for whole society that not only disrespecting a woman is devilish but it is also easily possible that such a act is catchable and punishable.
Need of technology should be understood. If you go to london today and raom around for a day you will be clicked 240 times. Delhi need that kind of infrastructure !
