hello,

I wanted to change my career and become a CA. How do I become a CA; I have no previous accountancy background.

I am looking for courses (but not online) - rather taught courses.

Please advise / share your knowledge.

Thanks!

I do not think that CA designation offers any special advantages unless you get in to big four. If you have money, pursue CMA. It is damn easy but very costly. Or CGA which is really a good designation that you can get working part time.

Before deciding any of the designation (CA, CGA and CMA), It is better to compare all the designation in terms of cost and time. This is because there is proposal for merging all the designation in to one i.e. Canadian Professional Accountant (CPA). Once it is approved it won't matter which designation you hold.

No idea on cost though as this depends on your previous qualification. It is recommended that you submit your transcript for evaluation to CMA. They will evaluate it for free and they let you know your eligibility. They accept transcript on fax and they will call you after evaluation to make sure that you enrol for CMA
