Taslima Nasreen was sent out of Kolkata and India by the government for the fear of offending the religious sentiments of people belonging to her own religion.
We can understand the police, West Bengal and Central governments' action not to hurt the religious sentiments of the minorities lest it become a law and order problem that may lead to riots and death of innocent civilians. For a poor country like India with 1.2 billion population and poor police to population ratio it is difficult to maintain the fragile peace.
If what was done in Taslima’s case was unavoidable and necessary, the same can apply to the police officers action regarding the girls arrest for their comments following BT’s demise.

The whole point of "freedom of speech" is sometimes, someone will say stuff that others will find offensive. And you cannot charge them criminally for it, they are protected. You either have "freedom of speech" or you don't, it is not a "pick and choose whatever suits me" proposition.
What the girls said was no doubt offensive and disrespectful and should not have been said. But the arrest is ridiculous and it is heartening to see that the mistake is being corrected.
Ironic that some of the same folks who are justifying the girls arrest were all up in arms when the fanatics in the middle east were screaming for the head of the guy who made that Mohammed film. Is that hypocrisy or what!

Are you there?
You cannot force others to respect someone to whom you respect. In retaliation to the action taken against the Facebook post, now new hate Facebook posts started surfacing from fake accounts. Let’s see how Shiv Sainiks will deal with them.

Imagine one of your parents dying and somebody comments badly on it, How would u feel.?
Theres is time and place to comments. There were millions of people who knew and were against "bandh". Why these girl only opened her mouth? Because she is not empathetic and she thinks herself too smart. Did she have to comment when more than half mumbai was mourning.?
Tilak, whose funeral was publicly performed in 1920 in the open space at Chowpatty, Balasaheb Thackeray's was the only other public funeral in Mumbai. Mr. Thackeray's funeral was attended by 2 million people. You think, so many people are foolish to attend his funeral. There must be something in the leader,, that is why so many mouners. I am not supporting nor am against such huge personality.
Whatever may be the case, I feel you all should leave the dead alone by telling to rest his soul in eternal peace and to give strength to his family members to bear this loss. What is the use of your education and where is your culture and what did your parents and teachers teach you if you cannot pray for the dead person soul?

We came to enjoy; we are being enjoyed. We came to rule; we are being ruled. We came to work; we are being worked. All the time, we find that. And this comes into every detail of our life.
One of my friends, who had worked in the Middle East, told me that during the days of “Roza” when majority of the population observe fast, others are not allowed to eat in public. The people in minority have to have their religious prayers behind the closed door. No one is allowed to do anything which is not followed by the majority.
Under the rule of Talibans, no one was allowed to express their point of view if it differs from Talibans.
Intolerance is build up overtime where we are taught by elders that this is correct and that is not correct. We simply followed what we have been told to. Usually our elders perceived those conditions based upon either their personal experiences or told by their elders. All these pre-conditionings of our perceptions make us more intolerant.
“Why these girls open their mouth” could be a beginning of intolerance. Ask someone who has no pre-conditioning, about this incident and you will get an honest opinion.
I can also connect this non-acceptance of pre-conditioning with another issue which is 180 degree apart. My family friend has a classis issue of generation gap with his son. He was worried that his son does not listen to him. I talked to his son and found the son was absolutely correct. The son refused to accept blindly what my friend used to tell him. My friend was upset because when he was a kid, he blindly accepted what his father told to him at that time and now his son doesn’t.
I can say – Talibanism can penetrate anywhere, anytime – in our religions, in our societies and even in our homes – unknowingly.
