Gifted kids' program/IB

A few questions to those who know well about the above topics.

1. What is the differences between gifted kids program / IB ?
2. What benefits would be a kid who is already in gifted program have by looking into IB program? (In terms of University admissions)
3. Is going to IB really worth it? (again from a university admission prospective).

I am being a very Indian person here and would like to know the career prospects rather than developing the creative side etc etc.

Thanks

T

community pressure of IB/ Gifted admissions are not fruitful for all of us . It does not take a child any further ..... definitely not at the university level. entry in Uni see only your total grade and profile if you are applying in specific program.I had same question when my daughter came to high school.Just ask your self is it good to burden your child in situation where ... marks drops and Univ admission is some time difficult. for me not worth after all if the school program offers same benefits as of IB.of course Academic courses lead to Uni.
my only 2 cents advise to consider twice experimenting your child's future.

I believe "Every child is gifted"
its a very ridiculous way of selecting a bunch of kids & branding them gifted at an early age

and at the same time ignoring other kids.

But unless they are treated their true value will never be known . They will be like all the other stones..so they need to be enhanced to be the shiny diamonds.

Well it is not really good to have a gifted child in my experience. My sisters kid is branded gifted and he is doing math and science 2 levels above his grade in school. It is really tough to keep the child concentrated at school because most of the stuff being taught in the school child has already covered. He reads fiction when teacher teaches in class and mom was called to school. But the child says i know everything that is being taught why should i waste the time listening to it again. He is branded a nerd all the time because of his high IQ eventhough he do not read anything much. he just has a photographic memory. It is difficult to mingle with kids because everyone thinks he is different than them. Mom is really scared how to keep him interested in school or else he may dropout.
It is always better to be average and hardworking. But for all the people grass is always greener on the other side.
