Just wondering whether any of you can help. I have a microwave oven from India (LG) that I am planning to use in Canada and I do have a transfer 110-220V strong enough for the microwave. My issue is that the plug from Indian microwave is not matching to the transformer and it looks like I need a connector to make it work. I tried getting this connector to a few places in Mississauga without much success. Can some one help?

Try Dollar store @ Dundas / Burnamthorpe ( near Mablle ave) or Flea market .

Yup any dollar store, dollarama would have the adapter..If you are looking for non standard size then stores like dollar value where the stuff sometime little bit more than a dollar, they carry different kinds of adapters.

Be prepared for it not to work as efficiently.....We brought some electronics from Singapore along with the converters..... most appliances (like iron/hair dryer-curlers-hair iron etc.) do not get hot enough......and some simply conked off.....

We then bought everything in Canada.....and have so much more peace of mind and quicker expected results....

A microwave generally operates at about 1000 Watt; which means the transformer to convert 110 V (in Canada) to 220 V has to be capable of handeling this much power. Then the freequency in Canada is diffrent than in India. Perhaps that will also effect performance of the microwave. You need to check all that. The best bet would be to use local one for a smooth and long lasting operation.

Until unless there are emotions attached to the microwave , just do away with it. After connector and wasted hours to get it, you will be into wasting energy due to leakage thru transformer and potential increase in hydro bill. It will cost you double after a year use only positive thing is you will never feel it !!
