Though they know that I have diplomatic immunity based on my Canadian citizenship.......
Peace
What kind of diplomatic immunity a Canadian citizenship provides while working in India, could you please provide details?
However if you are a foreign citizen an OCI status, then the GoI has said it will disallow consular access.

Any specific reason for OCI people not to have consular access?
TK , though living with 'diplomatic immunity' is himself not so diplomat , LOL , and is having a straight forward approach. Such a person can be easily misunderstood as trouble maker. In corporate world, be in India or in Canada, as you grow up the ladder , politics is imminent. Suck it and grow OR yuck it to stall in a row ! , Choice is yours !! .
Well, Come Timon, Since you have Job and taza experience of both lands, keep us updated about your experiences and feelings.

Welcome back Timon.
It is human nature that if we have something, we don't realize the important of it and when we don't have, we are missing it.
Both country has its own good and bad. It is up to us to make up our mind. It is easy to keep changing decision.
Anyone moving back to India, I'll suggest you to note down negative points of Canada (from your perspective) and why do you want to move back to India before moving back. Note down all these points in detail as much as you can. Keep list of those points easily accessible in India. Read these points whenever you face any problem in India and realize that Canada was better.
Same applies who are moving back to Canada. List down all negative point of India (from your perspective) and keep easily accessible to you in Canada.
I belive the list will definitely help you to make up your mind and taking good decision of moving back to India/Canada.
Also, 1 year time is not enough for settling in India after spending few years in North America. I'll say before moving back to Canada, we should at least spend 2 years in India and give us a chance to settle down.
Thanks

Fido.
There is definitely an option to balance between the home country and the new country, it poses a financial challenge though. But on the other side, you see that the next generation wouldn't have this dilemma in their mind. They see India as just a place to visit and some fun, I don't see them any memory attached as we have.
I met two people at my work who are close to 60s and were counting on moving back to India though they moved here in early 90s.. No matter how much we try, we're going to live with this dilemma.... but not our next generation..
Still on search to strike a balance....

So true.......
Strange to know that we are unable to live again in our home country and could not compromise on things we see since childhood
