How does Wind mobile compare with Telus on a reception and dropped call basis ???
Telus has got an unlimited one number add on @ 7 / month . If you attach this one number as a voip.ms DID , then you can have unlimited outgoing and incoming BUT caller id would not be displayed and your friends would have to call you and sms you at differnt nos.
Wind mobile has got unlimited incoming @ 7/mo .. For getting unlimited outgoing through voip.ms , you can have a DID .... With this set up , you get to see caller ids as well as your friends can call you and sms you at same number .
However heard that Wind has lots of dropped calls ( esp inside buildings ) and the reception may not be as clear as Telus ...
Condidering the above options a. Telus but no caller id and b. Wind with dropped calls / poor reception , which is a better choice ??

Wind: I have been using it since they started service couple of years ago. Intially, there were issues but lately (since last one year) their service has gone better and improved a lot. I had Rogers before switching over and could not notice big differences between 2. I had drop calls with Rogers and Bell (before I had Rogers).
I can say that they do have dropped call but not a lot and not that frequently that every second call is dropped.
Recollect the pathetic condition of Canadian cellphone industry before the advent of Wind mobile. Bell, Rogers and Telus were cruelly squeezing customers with their greedy services. I come from USA. When I first came here to see that there is no such thing like "free phone for customers who sign a 2 years contract" and no "VM, caller id features covered in monthly bill", I felt disgusted how these greedy scoundrels are ripping off the hard earning people. Now there is a reason why these companies push legislation that do not want foreign companies to invest in telecommunications, internet, insurance and many more industries. The reason is these have become essential commodities now-a-days and by taking over totally one can keep milking customers for ever.
But there came wind, the super star who made a revolution in canadian cellphone industry. As soon as my current contract with SOLO mobile (a subsidiary of Bell) got over I flew off to Wind like a freed cage bird. I got a blackberry free of cost with 3 years contract for $30 for the first year and $45 then on. This would include unlimited local calling, unlimited country wide texting, VM, caller id, unlimited DATA (yes unlimited!!!). The contract breaking is so easy, you got to pay for the phone less the $3 for every previous month you stayed with them. Sorry I cant say about Telus mobile service as I have not used them but their internet sucks big time. But tell you what, free phone (blackberries, smart phones)with contract, free VM, free caller Ids have become the unwritten norms for the other cellphone providers too. Thanks to Wind!
Thanks Folks ,
Though I am personally tilting towards Wind , I just wished to check if their service was very bad as compared to Telus .... Per GP above it appears to be not as bad .
Will wait for other CD s as well to pitch in .... Please share your experience with regards to reception and dropped calls in Wind Mobile especially from those who have experienced Telus as well ...

Wait till Wind is secretly bought by one of the big Scoundrels & slowly their service quality will be forced to drop by smart MBA executives of big telecom.Next they will be officially made to declare that they can no longer carry on their competitive pricing & service quality and have decided to merge with Robbers/Bhell.
Untill then cool off while Wind is still blowing.

Thank You ! Both the links you have referred are great in understanding the difference . Appears that though Wind may not be close to the big 3 , it is bigger than the other 2 in my region .
I agree with the poster above that we should try and promote other than the Big 3 as they had monopolized for long , fleecing the customers and it is only with the advent of the small 3 that cell usage has become affordable .... Lets support them especially when they provide us with better deals .... With the customer support , they are bound to grow .
I shall go ahead with Wind mobile .
