Hello,
Did any one of you can share any experience on POA execution for a Canadian Citizen and OCI holder?
I will need POA to take possession of a Flat in Kolkata and registration as well- I won't be able to visit India that point of time.
I talked initially with my real estate Lawyer here - he has advised me to contact a lawyer in Kolkata for preparing the POA and then sending via mail which he can notarized it here and send back. He was not aware of any need of further attestation of the POA via Indian High commission in Canada.
Can anyone share if any one went through the entire POA process from here in Canada?
I found tons of notes via online forum (mainly folks in US) but would like to know the real time experience via CD.
Thank you all!
Ani
In my case, Lawyer in India had made the POA draft as per indian govt requirement and I notarized here. My father used POA for buying property.

Success is Never Ending and Failure is Never Final.
1. Make a new Power of Attorney (POA) in Canada. Lawyer Cost approx $100.
(If you are in India and you made the POA in India, then before leaving India, you need to register the POA.)
2. Go to Shared Services Bureau (Document Services) and get a certificate for the lawyer who made your POA. Cost $17
3. Go to Indian Consulate and Get it stamped. Cost $32
4. Send Original POA to India and register it there.

Source of the info is one of the thread on CD : http://canadiandesi.com/read.php?TID=31804&page=2
Thank you guys for your feedback ..much appreciated !
My Canadian Lawyer also advised me to make the POA via Indian lawyer (and then notorized here (like meitsme has mentioned) ..online forum folks are saying to do the attestation via Indian High Commision in Toronto and not notorized via Canadian Lawyer ...I am still checking the options
