You are right.
By his 114 runs in 147 balls and not vice-versa, he swallowed five and half overs for the sake of his personal record. This proved too costly in the end as the pitch was a batsman' s paradise, B'desh could chase it down and now we are out of the Asia Cup.
Sachin has rubbed salt into the wounds of the Other Ten team when it already suffered humiliation in England and Australia.

Cricket is a game played by 11 players ..... there are batsmen who score runs and there are bowlers who make sure the other team does not score runs ...simple format.

Today for the second time Pakistan's bowlers defended a reasonable total ..... if India cannot defend a 300+ score, they dont deserve to win .... Sachin or no Sachin.

Rest we can blame Sachin, MMS, Sonia Gandhi or anyone else ..... but the fact remains India lost because they did not play well ....

MORE SALT FOLKS !!!

"My critics haven't taught me my cricket," Sachin Tendulkar has said in a rebuttal to those who were calling for him to retire.

Sachin said: "The day he feels "a little less passion" when walking out to bat for India, I will give up the game" adding, "critics didn't need to tell me to do so."

Tendulkar said he had played cricket because he loved to do and there was nothing better than playing for India.

"I still get goosebumps as I stand with my teammates when the national anthem is on. I still feel the same passion when I pick up my bat and go out," he said in an interview carried in the latest issue of 'Open' magazine.

Way to go Sachin !! :ylsuper: :ylsuper:

Apologize if we had asked him to retire, for some of us had not fully gauged his own greed and insensitivity to the ambitions of players half his age. He ought to be banished by the selectors (i.e., if they have something called 'backbone') from tests, one dayers and T20s. The selectors have been courteous and polite to a fault, that he may finish his 100 100s. May be if he is really interested in serving the game and guiding youngsters, he can do so by playing Ranji for his state and Duleep Trophy games for a few more years. Many great players have done that.
Sorry state of affairs that one individual can keep on playing till he "feels passion" and not on performance.
Still worse, he can dictate playing for the country just because "he gets goose bumps" when the "national anthem is on".

For reasons mentioned by you, we have started calling this team Other Ten. May be we should call it Other Team (dis) United like a Soccer team.

If we have to judge each of the other ten players by his own performance and not on the "non-performance" of some one else in the XI, we have to apply the same yardstick for Sachin also. Otherwise, if we follow the yardstick which we apply for Sachin, about the non-performance from among the other ten, then each player keeps his place forever.

No use blaming Sachin, MMS, Sonia or anyone else, when we have these die hard fans, who lap up all the non-sense that the media dishes out just to "boost" their own profit.

Fair enough .... why dont we do that .... the last series played by India was Asia cup in Bangladesh ..... let us have a look at the performance of our top 5 batsmen and decide who deserves to stay in team ... let us judge solely on perfomrnace in the last series played no reference to old records.

Now look at the performance of our batsmen and tell me in your opinion who should be retained in Indian team.

Just for the sake of interest, would like to ask.
When the team had its worst drubbing in England and Australia, as the senior most and the most experienced player, even if he is not a captain was it not his moral responsibility to say "The buck stops here" and not blame some newcomer half his age.
Or did he do anything spectacular to change the course of a single match and manage a draw if not a victory?
Then he would have been really great and deserved a Bharat Ratna, and sorry but not now. He is like anyone of these power hungry politicians in India.
