I have a feeling that he will retire soon.. It's different story if he admits or not but he definitely was wanting to complete his 100th century from long time and I have nothing against it…. Its fair… but I really doubt his abilities looking at the time he has taken to achieve his 100th… Just like how Dravid said, “Now it's time for a new generation of young players to take it forward and make history..”

Declared his retirement and he needed 4 runs for a 100 average. He did not say later I'll play one more test to get his average of 100. He left with an average of 99.94.
He was a true hero, but to drag on for 1 year put the team thru 3 series of washouts.
Even in this match his team LOST to a SUBSTANDARD team.
What next series with Canada ?.
Shame on you Bharat Ratna, if they give you this award then many of the others should return theirs for being in his company.
The WALL looks far superior to Ratna for the way he retired.
Is Bharat Ratna waiting for his son already a candidate for Padma Shree to start playing test cricket and keep his seat warm for him in the test team ?.

Don bradman based on statistics, Viv Richards based on his batting, Kapil Dev for his 175 in world cup which led his team to win the 1983 world cup or even Murali the lone Tamil playing for a Sinhalese nation and getting 800 wickets are far better sportsmen.
Whatever people can claim about his game he peaked at least 3 years ago and has let youngsters to reach the time by occupying a slot by "DESI style affirmative action".

FYI ...............
Bradman was averaging over 100 before he started his last tour of England. Largely due to an over the top performance against visiting Indian side where he averaged 175 in 5 tests !!!!!!
He had announced before the start of England tour that this would be his last tour playing for Australia.
So he went into the last test averaging over 100 .... but he was out second ball duck in the first innings. As luck would have it, England had to follow on and he never got to play in the second innings !!!!
He was 40 years old when he played his last test, 4 years older than the next older guy in the team.
Also those days there was not much cricket played world over .... after the last test in August of 1948, the next test played by Australia was in december 1949 against South Africa.
In fact Bradman's average before the match was more than 101. He had already declared that being his last, got standing ovation when went in to bat. retirement was all set. It was just a bad luck that he got googlied on second ball of match to score zero and average came down to 99.94 which no body imagined but by that time his deal was done.
He did not declare retirement at 99.94 but rather did confidently at 101 , thinking it will not come down. No body is washed in milk when comes to 100 the number !!
