What precautions should be taken to do this legally
************
This can't be done legally, but can be done only illegally.
The choice is your friends (BTW, People post illegal posts like this eg. saying asking for a friend, when it can be asking for themselves. The reason being the redicule of CD's when you say that it involves you).
All the best from getting benefits from the Canadian govt. and the Canadian tax payers.

Peace.

By this time you probably aware that posting on Desi forum not always give you positive feedback.

This is not the fault of an individual person, this is our typical desi thinking.

No matter brown_bear ask this or Fido asked about how to fight for the traffic ticket, we DESI always waiting for that kind of post where we can insult others..

I know that Canadians are only permitted to designate one residence as a “principle residence” for tax purposes.

In this case your friend will be living outside Canada and earning outside canada living outside canada but have ties in canada (family in this case), Its a complex situation I think better consultant an account.

I am not surprised. One desi posts about his friend's greedy intents, ask for ways to circumvent the laws, may put himself in danger of illegalities and few others trying to support the thought process instead of discouraging instantly. The thought of declaring ones wife a single mom for monetary gains is worth mocking and a thought which required to be nipped in the bud, by means of discouragement.

In contrary, a brilliant suggestion given is to consult a professional for such an act !! well try it but do not call your self a desi, because I am proud desi with honest motives and I feel disgusted when my fellow countryman with intent that of BB's friend, spoils my impression in foreign land.

"Single Mother" applies to a divorced woman who is raising kids on her own. The husband may or may not be contributing to the childcare expenses. This individual will have all her sources of income assessed, buy the authorities before any assistance is provided.

Single mother is a term which applied to single/widowed/Divorced/Seperated mother raising a child.
Shame on BB (or his/her friend) for even trying to exploit the Cdn. Govt. this way.
I agree that Canada has cheated immigrants (other than those in IT,Finance, accounting and possibly high level business) but this is no way to take revenge. Let us face the mouse (Cdn. Govt.) as a Lion and not as a lizard.

remember (as per BB's earlier post when he/she showered hatered on a woman who said that she was single but pregnant and also with children) that " Judge no one, and you will not be judged. With the same measure that you judge, you will be judged- The bible"

Peace

Just inquisitive - Can't a woman whose husband is not supporting her and is estranged claim single mom benefits despite being married ? ... Yes or No please ....

You may chose to look the other way or provide your wasteful comments but the fact is there are tons of Canadians who are single moms ( unmarried / estranged ) ... and taking these benefits and smoking pot and whiling their life way w/o working ..... Go ahead and stop that if you can !!

Tons of immigrants are claiming child care benefits w/o staying in Canada ... Go ahead and stop them if you can !!

So what if our friend here claims that she is not being supported by her husband and assuming that the husband s on an NR status - what happens next ... How does the Govt deny this ?? ...
