I think its ok to say Religious figures are thinkers/philosophers. In many cases they have a profound social and political influence.

Yes you can add The Sufi saints in the list (Aamir Khusro, Moin-uddind Chisti etc.).
I would like to add the following names to this list :-
1.) Subramanian Bharti
2.) Adi Shankracharya
3.) Kazi Nazrul Islam

I am not in too much of a hurry either..
The question is who are "philosophers"? Let's say even outside the Indian concept. Are all those who establish religious cults(size doesn't matter) philosophers? Can we club Aristotle, Ptolemy, Descartes in the same class as Buddha, Jesus, Muhammed and Mahavir etc? Are they all "equal" philosophers or is there a fine line somewhere that differentiates them?

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.
Ptolemy was an astronomer ...However his "philosophy" was adopted by the Catholic church..Thus his views and observations became a part and parcel of the Catholic church philosophy.. Until it was challenged by Johannes Kepler !
Aristotle, Confucious were real philosophers (in the strict sense)... They did not have any religious orientations. I put Buddha and Mahavira in the class of philosophers as they preached their views without reference to any "God"... They just used the term. supreme force...
and lastly.. your thread began with "Indian philosophers"
