As far as I know, and I may not be fully informed, but the study of Law is not offered as a part time course anywhere. It is a full time course which may last anywhere from 3 to 4 years to get a degree in Law (LLB). Here is a link that gives the list of schools that offer studies in Law. http://www.gradschools.com/listings/canada/law_canada.html" rel="nofollow">LINK
Your friend would be better off visiting the websites of these schools and learning for himself. Although the web page does not provide a direct hyperlink to the different websites for the schools, entering the names of the schools and googling will be good enough to lead you to the home pages of those schools.

Thank you for all your help, will give my friend the info , but will also advise him to think of some other profession as after putting in 15 years of law practice , no point in studying law again for 4 years . What do you advise .

What do you advise .

It is extremely difficult to give any sort of "advice" in such matters, moreso because I do not think I am competent enough to do that. It is an entirely personal decision that one has to take for himself. What we, as immigrants, who have been in this country, can do, is try our best to act as a source of unembellished factual information and also provide our own experiences. The latter does not necessarily imply that everyone will have identical good or bad experiences. The reason being that the number of factors that go into play for each individual are on the one hand very large and at the same time, have a very high variance. Each individual is different and unique in his own way and so it becomes very difficult to classify or categorize a person, especially not knowing him personally.
I can only express my opinions as in what I would perhaps do if I was in the other person's shoes. It is to be remembered that such opinions are characterized by MY ways of thinking, by MY personality, by MY outlook toward's life, by MY attitudes etc. and therefore do not necessarily have a wide application.
Coming back to your question, I think it is entirely upto your friend and how he strongly he feels about pursuing a career in law, how successful he reckons he could be after his studies etc etc. Changing professions is also not an easy task, and becomes more difficult the further one is on the rungs of the age ladder.
From what little I have seen here, Law in this country is practised in a very different way than in India. Lawyers here do not normally practice independantly. They belong to a group or a "house" of solicitors, unlike our "vakils" back home who are available by the dozens outside the courts.
IMHO, it would be better if he takes opinions from desi lawers(people who were lawyers like him in India and who have immigrated) if any in this website.

Yes Sir , I do understand your point of view , and I respect you for it and that should be the spirit and understanding of all of us .
I fact my friend was working for a law firm back at home ( the legal seen has also changed in India with big firms setting up shop, it is only in the small towns and muffasal courts that we have the old Vakil system )
With the setting up of world class collages and in fact Law Universities in India the legal system is now taking a dramatic change . In the past it was the 3rd class student who used to opt for the study of Law but now only the cream is admitted to the collages that I am referring to .
As regards to my friend I have given him all the options now it is for him to decide. Intimately you are the maker of your destiny.
