I wanted to know if any one has any details regarding the final signing stataus of the MRA between CGA institute and ICAI.

If the MRA is in place what is the agreement for CA's from India who intend to pursue CGA in Canada

I did my transfer credit evaluation and they have put in a status of degree required even though I did submit my transcripts of CA as well as B.Com that I had from University of Mumbai so am bit confused on what to do.

Any details in this regard would be of great help

A recognized university degree is required by CGA even under a MRA.

10. I do not have a university degree and I qualified as an ACCA member after July 31, 1998. What do I need to do to become a CGA?

A. ACCA members who gained membership to ACCA after July 31, 1998 are required to hold a university degree recognized by CGA-Canada.

Thanks lot for your reply Voltrex. I did give them the transcripts in a sealed envelope so am not sure what else to do

Even i have submitted CA and Chinai College transcript. They have asked me to write 6 out of 21 papers and mentioned that University degree required. On making inquiry with them they have asked for B Com transcript from University of Mumbai. Please see the response from CGA on my query for BCom

My query
I have received Transfer Credit Evaluation Report. It may please be noted that there are two remarks on that report.
Point # 1 It is mentioned as Bachelor Degree : Required.

Point # 2 In addition to that it is also mentioned Note: Please forward an official degree certificate to determine the degree requirement.

I have submitted 2 transcript along with Application form i.e. one from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India for CA qualification and second from Shri Chinai College of Commerce, University of Mumbai for Bachelor of Commerce Degree.Bachelor of Commerce is 3 year full time degree commerce course.

I am unable to understand why same is not considered for the degree requirement.

Response from CGA:

"Your transcripts from both university of Mumbai and CA India were received and assessed. Your official transcripts from U of Mumbai do not specifically state the date your degree was conferred which is required information in order to consider satisfying the degree requirement. Therefore, an official degree certificate indicating when your degree was conferred is required by CGA Ontario from U of Mumbai."


Please note that you can enroll for CGA and submit the degree transcript at the time of membership.


As per my information MRA between CGA and ICAI is not formally signed. they are giving credit based on course content. I could not locate signed MRA on website.

Recently ICAI and CICA has signed the memorandum and it is available on both the website.

Thanks for the details seenimesh. Can you let me know the mail id to which you sent the query regarding your transcript evaluation? I would also like to do the same and see what CGA Institute has to respond
