Not sure if this has been discussed before :
It appears to be a common practice for S Indian restaurants to host a weekend veg buffet ( brunch / lunch ) @ very reasonable prices .. I m assuming the trend started with Sarvana Bhawan and caught up .
With more than 1/2 a dozen good S Indian restaurants serving this buffet this thread is aimed at sharing feedback & rate the better ones for common benefit . Please share your experience & the price .... I m enumerating the ones that I am aware of ... ( not sure of the current prices though )
a. Sarvana Bhawan : Break fast buffet ( 9 - 11 am or 10 - 12 noon ) priced $8 - $9 per head ( not sure about kids )
b. Udupi Madras Cafe : Breakfast ( 10 - 12 am ) and then (12 - 3 pm) lunch ... (both under $10/- )
c. Chennai Spice , Brampton .... serves non veg dishes also .... unique feature was that dosa / parota can be ordered and will come to your table . ( under $10 / head )
d. Anjappar Chettinad : Visited this restaurant recently & liked their dosas & sambhar .. They do have a weekend buffet .. still to try it though ... In case anyone has tried - what are the prices and quality ?
e. Nilgiris Brampton ( 4525 Ebenezer Rd ) .. $8/- , dosa served on table , ample seating area and variety .
f. Swagrhuas .. 2790 Drew Road , Malton ( Pls confirm address ) .... Excellent buffet , good quality dishes , dosa served on table , filter coffee included in $8/- person ..Children under 4 are free .. hard working and responsive staff.
Please feel free to add on to this list citing your experience/s ....

Better Indian buffets in India (Capital city of a small state) is :
INR 150 to INR 200 for veg lunch ( 2* hotel)
INR 300 t0 INR 350 for non veg. lunch (3* hotel).
INR 1000 to INR 1500 at Vivanta by Taj
Canada is damn cheap with respect to buffets esp. with its wages and standards of living.
Peace
