As far as the info from the GOI goes, U sticker on the new passport is required for kids (it is not optional). For adults between 20 and 50, it is optional.
Does this mean, its a complete new OCI process where you pay the full fee (everytime the kid gets a new passport) or just pay a sticker fee $25 and get it in the new passport.

Chances are high that they will need.. but it has to be much easier than starting a fresh app.

Only the sticker fee. However, I am not sure if they would require the whole pile of documents including parents'.

Thank you all for your replies. In case, I am planning to keep the old passport as is, since I am leaving India and not coming into India. I will go through the transfer process once I am back in Canada.

Hello TK
How are you doing in India? Hope all is good.
I am in India right now (assigment from my employer) and will be back in Canada around Feb-March next year.
I believe that it is a lot easier to survive in Canada rather than India and cannt wait to be back !!! May be I am too used to Canadian life...Just a thought.
Take care
