I am in process of transferring my chequing account. I am shopping around. Any suggestions?

ING, PC and Manulife give no fee chequing account. How reliable are those? How is their customer service? Anything to look out for?

I have an account with PC for the past 12+ years. I hardly have any interaction with the CSR's. For the most part I bank online.

They don't charge for checks and I get pc points for banking with them. Shop at the PC chain (No Frills, RCSS etc), and they even give you points if you bring your own re-usable grocery bags

Hi,
Hands down PC financial, I too am banking with PC from last 7 years, and collecting PC points using their master card as my main credit card.
So far I have already redeemed 1200000 PC points, which is equivalent to $ 1200 of free groceries, so far, (Points are combined for my family, including my daughters).
With any other bank I would have ended up paying atleast 300 x4=1200 $ in bank charges minimum, so far, for the family, making the savings tally to $2400.
Every penny counts, in this country, when savings is not easy, and many are living on pay cheque to pay cheque.

I liked PC as well... BUT I would also suggest to keep another secondary account (may not in frequent use) at a bank which has branches where you can walk in for transections like certified cheques, drafts, currency exchanges etc.. etc..
PC bank does not allow same day transections for online banking...For example, in TD I can pay my internet bill on the same day while with PC I have to place for the next day's transections...
You can link PC bank a/c with your any other bank a/c which will make it easier to transfer funds from bank to bank (takes about 2-4 days).. Other banks like TD, RBC don't have this option (we have to use email money transfer).

I agree, PC scores all the way. I have been a PC customer for the last 4.5 years, and it never disappointed me a bit. Above all else, you have access to the CIBC ATMs across Canada (for free). You can't go wrong with this free chequing account. Even their telephone customer service is pretty good. No issues with that as well. Go for it. Better than anything else in the market.
