I am hooked to Indian clothes . I have found quite a few branded clothes here ... TH / Gap etc to be made in India / Bangla Desh / Pakistan .
If you go for decent brands in India viz Allen Solly / Van Heusen ( even Peter England ) they should last well here besides being cheaper for the same quality .... at least mine have lasted well and I wear cottons as much as possible .... I may not be looking at the right places perhaps but I do not find the same quality in the stores I frequent - Zellers / Sears / Walmart .
Do not buy more than 2-3 suits - you d not need them much unless you d be in sales ... I brought 5 .. and have hardly used one 11

I understand the brands I ve named above also use pre shrunk material.
And to clarify - yes I used the dryer and I have not found anything amiss .
I have personally found these brands to be better than the locals available here .

Indian made clothes do not suit here. Don't bring too many. Just enought to get by initially. Once you get here, keep an eye on special offers/sales and you can get clothes that are cheap and are of good quality good.
Otherwise you will stand out in a crowd like a fish plate.
There are few shops who offers export surplus here in India. If you are aware about these merchant and knows little bit about product quality then you can get very high quality products much cheaper in India. Here I am taking about those top brands which are really expensive in west. I would not like to name those brands but I did check websites and products are really expensive. You can get these clothes much cheaper here even compared to local indian brands. Again you need be aware about these shops who actually sells export surplus.
This goes like this.... Suppose if one of the top brand in USA/Canada/Europe ( Just an example) import products from India from X export house. They place an order of say 10000 shirts from X export house in India. Now, that export house will go on make approx 11000 shirts instead of 10000 keeping in mind the wastages, defects etc (10% additional). Shipment will be sent for 10000 pieces only and rest pieces are sold by export house here in local market at throw away prices to the dealers after cutting the logo or name of actual buyer.

Come here, experience weather, work culture (casual, formal etc) and then buy clothes. you will have all the options to get cheapest (George in Walmart) to the expensive ones (dunno the brands, cannot afford ). I had purchased blazers and ties and suites from India only to find out that they are not required and no longer fits me. All waste of money.
You will get better quality for comparatively cheaper price clothing over here..
"I guarantee you'll like the way you look" when you buy clothes here...(I know a stolen caption..)
Things that can be bought in India for cheap:
1) Pajamas (india style)
2) Shorts (from street side vendors)
3) Hats
4) Monkey caps (for winter)
5) Traditional indian clother such as sherwani, dhoti, kurta etc
