The details are too technical for me, but this time it is RIL who is involved. Tatas still haven't come clean with the Radia controversy.
I think when it is time to hit the ballot box, everything will be forgotten or forgiven and this guy will be the new PM. If BJP comes to power, there will be some other issues that will divert nation's attention from current scandals.
Sad that guys like Ambani or Harshad Mehta have been heroes in Gujarati populace.

Indian business tycoons are very well known for their ruthless methodology. In past, Ambanis were responsible for the closure of dozens of big Industrial units. Even, tatas are not as immaculate as they were in past.
They should learn a lesson from the North American CEOs like Bill Gates, Warren Buffet and Lerry Ellison who are still honorable and well known for their philanthropy.

I wonder why Meghal has tried to smear Gujarati people. Well, I do not believe that Harshad or for that matter Mukesh are heroes of Gujarati people, especially after open fight amongst the brothers which laid bare corrupt practices of both the brothers and immensely harmed the investors who had put faith in their maverick father Dhirubhai.
He is hoping for Rahul to be PM and provided link where moron Digvijaya endorses him. Now there is nothing, which prevents Rahul or Sonia to be PM. However, both have enjoyed immense power without any accountability as they have their puppet MMS doing whatever these ventriloquists have been asking him to do. I do not see any reason for them to assume accountability.
Further to castigate Mukesh or Tata is a futile attempt. I can discern that Meghal’s sympathies are with Kangress. To me it is unconscionable to support extreme corruption of MMS/Sonia. However, there are millions in India who support this duo to the hilt and hence I am not surprised.
A little background understanding of RIL (Google it please) would make it amply clear that whole NEPL auction was designed to provide a lot of leeway and discretion to the bureaucrats and politicians. The whole process was designed to promote corruption and now crying hoarse about is little ridiculous. Foreign firms understand this and hence kept away from last round of NEPL and thus India lost better price. However, most Indians are stupid to understand and the rest who understand do not care. I find blaming Mukesh or Tata for corruption a most ridiculous and offensive notion.
At the cost of digression, I would like to state that Mukesh eased out Cheveon from his refinery project. Chevron, then slapped him hard when they took controlling interest at less than half price in Shale NG company in USA and thus doomed RIL investment. This goes to prove that when you grow due to political connection and bribery and ignore talent, you cannot succeed on international markets.
I think we have discussed enough on CD about the dishonest and corruption and subversion of democratic process by MMS/Sonia and adding one more thread is not going to make much difference. I hope Meghal would not taint Gujarati people when they have proved their commitments beyond the expectations. Gujarati people were in forefront of independence movement and have made disproportionately high sacrifices , provided leaders of world stature like Mahatma and Sardar Vallabhbhai and set an example for the rest of the country by installing 3 times Narendra Modi who has provided relatively efficient, least corrupt Government whose commitment to development has set a benchmark which no other state govt has yet matched.
For smearing Gujarati, Meghal should apologize to them. This is the least I expect from him as I am from Gujarat.

I heard from a credible source that donations from Bill Gates do not come without strings attached. So however philanthropic he may seem, his motives are questionable.

IMO, I am perhaps equal or more Gujarati than you are. I was just rephrasing the statement made by late author Chandrakant Baxi, where he mentioned that any person who made lots of money was always a hero in the eyes of Gujarati. I do not think that Ambanis or Harshad Mehta were ever vilified in Gujarati media. Political connections/dishonesty are perhaps seen as a way to do business in entire India.
And putting a link about Diggy doesn't make me a Congress supporter either.

While agreeing to what Nightmare said, I shall still not try to give this thread a regional bias.
Although being a Gujarati myself, my ego does get hurt too.
Dogs bark at intruders, but that does not necessarily make the intruder a thief.
We are living in a civilized democratic society , where everyone has freedom to voice their views, that does not necessarily mean all Gujaratis are like that.
Again not intending to offend anyone, these are my views.

Why should he/she be. He/she is just presenting their views and opinions on a public board, just like everyone else.
