Hi,
I am a Civil Engg. Graduate (Bachelor’s Degree) from Pune University and applied for my PR. I am exploring all avenues to have good living in Toronto. I seek help from my friends as to How universities in India are rated by CCPE when we are looking for Professional Engg. ? Do we have to give all 20 test as mentioned in P Engg. Website or do Masters there in order to appear for PPE test.
I hope there is someone in the groups to advice me.
Thanking You.
Rajesh
Its better to do a Masters here as soon as u land up here since u may not have to go through all the hassles of writing PEO technical exams which shall take u good 2 yrs.Keep in mind you may still not get your P Eng licence after shelling out few thosands dollars for writing these so called technical exams. In most cases the PEO board has standard process for any university graduate from india no matter what his experience level is they call for an interiviwe with the ERC commeitte or straight put you thourgh Confirmatry Exam Program in order to bring our qualification upto the CAEB Unviersity level(I am still not able to figure out with special the Canadian Engineering Unviersities are teaching in Engineering)so after givein all this 4 exams you may be advised to write PPE exam.So my suggestion would be if u r young below 30 better to go for your masters degree as after finishing your masters degree you would be staraight advised to write the PPE exams
The PPE is a MUST for all Professional Engineers irrespective of the university. Even the graduates from Canadian Universities have to write PPE. The PEO validates the course/qualification by assessing the transcripts from the university. I suggest you to attach your transcript to the application with copies of your marksheet and degree certificates.

Masters would not be a proper route. First, many Canadian Universities will not accept you because preference is first given to Canadian Engineers, and besides all that your equivalent GPA system will be converted and your grades will generally be slightly lowered. To sum it up, if your GPA wasn't equivalent to about an A or higher, your chances for admission into a Masters program (re; Electrical Engineering) are very minimal, unless you could provide your own funding somehow -- then you may get lucky. Most Uni's get upto 400-1000 applicants for Masters every year in each discipline, and generally only accept 30-80 candidates. Oh yeah I might add, if you're not a citizen you'll be subjected to International Student fees, which will cost you almost double. And most Profs won't take you under them, if they don't have the funding. If you could get an NSERC scholarship for this, then you would have a better chance.
You should of course in any case try if you're confident.
