Cricket World Cup 2011

Hi CDs,
In a few hours time Cricket World Cup will be inaugurated in Bangladesh and the fever is just getting on, I thought it would be good to get some discussions going. CBN will be broadcasting the Opening ceremony however the matches are on Pay per View, I'm sure there will be websites airing the matches. Feel free to share your thoughts on the cricket world cup as a whole as well as your teams for semi finals. I have a feeling this would be a world cup without Australia being in final perhaps even not in semi finals.
My 4 teams would be South Africa, India, England, Sri Lanka/Pakistan.

Players to watch: Yusuf Pathan, Kohli, Tendulkar, Duminy, Amla, Kaamran, Kevin Petersen, Vittori, Sakib Al Hasan, Afridi (with ball), Ponting, Watson

Good luck to India!
~K

Cricket World Cup 2011
Just for the sake of the tv channels and the ad agencies, the World Cup is being given much more importance than they really deserve.
All of us are watching the matches on our televisions from our drawing rooms, even though dead bodies like Spectrum, S-band, CWG etc are lying in between.

passion for cricket is not a new thing
laughable!

People have been following cricket when neither these plethora of TV channels nor ad agencies existed.

And please don't bring people not following other sports... do you remember ever seeing a free tennis court in India? Cricket is more followed more because people can play it in gully, simple.

Hi,
So we saw India winning comprehensively but not without a more than descent fight by Bangladesh, they looked improved. I really hope Sehwag stays longer, I have a feeling he might score maximum and be a reason for India to win. Also, Viraat is continuing his good form. Sri Lanka and New Zeland has easy victories too.

Here are some of the sites to watch the match online (includes list given by some other posters in separate discussions)

Yup. So far no surprises. I watched all the matches on tv. Feels good with so much cricket.
May go for the India-England match. Got a pass from a relative. Others are lobbying to get that pass. Let's see.

Hi!
Finally excitement coming back, what a match- a tie between India and England. Tendulkar's century and what a reply by Anderw Strauss. Even more interesting is Shane Warne's prediction of a tie, lol. And today's game Roach's hat-trick.
Enjoy the world cup- more fun in store....

I thought at one point that Canada could have won against Pakistan but Afridi bowled well.

I have been away from this forum for a while and it's an opportune time to look back and compare from my first post almost 40days ago and before the beginning of the World Cup and I feel proud in seeing that 3 out of 4 semifinalist were predicted correctly. In terms of players I would say many of them have shown good performances and I am pleased with what I said about Afridi, that he will do good with ball.
I really hope India does well on Wednesday and I feel Sehwag is due perhaps India might play Raina and Yusuf (someone I'm still waiting for a great performance and he might do that against Pakistan). They may drop Virat and perhaps also bring in Sreesanth in place of Munaf or even Ashish Nehra.
Good luck India!
~K
