Does Sachin Tendulkar deserve a Bharat Ratna?.
I don't think so.
The kitchen cabinet of Sonia-Mother India is recommending for such an award.
May be they should make it conditional that if Sachin can win the World Cup 2011 for India then he Could be awarded one.
If not it will be not presitigious.

If you can do what he does and as good as he does it, we can recommend you to get a Bharat Ratna... What Say?
I'm divided on this.
On one hand, he's India's greatest cricket player (arguably, maybe).
He has been compared to the great Sir Don Bradman (even by Bradman himself).
He has taken Indian cricket to new heights.
India will most likely not produce another cricketer like him, at least in our lifetime.
On the other hand, I think this just further spoils India's obsession with cricket and populism of cricket.
Cricket is no longer a sport, but a medium of entertainment.
Indian youth is obsessed with cricket and Bollywood movies and this just spoils them further.
I also don't think he's quite in the same class of contribution and meaningfulness as Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela, Lata Mangeshkar, Prof. Amartya Sen, Ravi Shankar, and the other reciepients of the award.
And for that reason, I'm out

Some of anti indian desi's living in canada blaming and cursing native land deseve bharat ratna, not sachin tendulkar.
Not yet, let him contribute more to Indian sports (not only cricket) after he retires.
His deeds in coming years should fetch him the Bharat Ratna. Today he is just a professional player, a master in his field which many of us are, many of scientists, professors, businessmen are doing same kind of work in their own fields. Only difference is his profession is being shown on TV for last twenty years and more.

Bharat ratna is given to someone who has excelled in his field and has brought laurels to India. On both these counts he scores big time. He is not just a professional player .... he is a player who has excelled as a batsmen in cricket and that is acknowledged internationally.
If you look at the past winners like Lata Mangeshkar, Ravi Shankar or M S Subalakshmi, they were people who had excelled in their field.
You claim to be a master in your field ... would love to hear what field and what have you achieved .... and i will canvass for yor getting a Bharat Ratna
For that matter you can add any scientist, profeessor or businessman too. 
Puttoo G, i am not denying bharat ratna to Sachin..
. All I am saying is not yet, he needs to do more for national sports to get this award.
Bharat Ratna is given for highest degree of national service mostly in area of art, litrature , scientific or any other clearly observed service. For sports (which is your reason for him) khel ratna is the highest award which he already got.
Btw, you claimed in your post that i claimed in my post (!) that I am master in my field !! Where did i write that Puttoo Sir?
