Yes many Christians are vegans too .... just like there are some hindus who eat meat ..... but you basic premise that other religions do not allow eating meat is wrong .....
As for PETA, it is against animal slaughter .... be it halal or otherwise. It is you who is trying to be selective.

Halal is a "offically permited" practice in Canada and all democratic countries ...perhaps you did not know it.
It is a shame that even after coming to Canada you haven't been able to change your bigoted views ...... my sincere hope is that atleast in this country you are able to overcome this attitude and have positive thoughts. I will pray for you.

You are confusing meat eating practice with halal meat eating practice.
Halal ritual is a 7th century Islamic practice about making an animal bleed slowly and painfully (supposedly the animal has to be alive as long as possible) so that you and the taxi guy can get your suitable places in the Islamic paradise.
What is wrong is the religious, ritualistic death which happens in Halal. You would not agree with this, would you?

Halal is not about killing animals slowly !! If some people don't understand a certain concept or issue very well they should not really be talking about it or enrolling in petitions for it !!
Halal is a combination of many religious islamic aspects : slaughtering animals while mentioning God's name is just part of this. And by the way, slaughtering animals have been known even before Islam came to life !! Read in history people !!
The most important thing about Halal is to keep food and drinks free from any Pork, pork extracts, and Alcohol or whatever food or drink that can make anyone lose correct thinking and concentration. So, it's not just about the meat like some people here have been saying. It's about all food and drinks whether or not it came from animals, plants or was manufactured.
I will not blame the big restaurant brands for not having kosher or halal food in their restaurants, after all they look for profit, and they know that this would cost them a lot to make come true, although they can increase the cost of their sandwiches to overcome any extra expenses !!
Why don't you guys make a petition against the fact that some people eat other people's flesh in some parts of the world !!
I bet that's more cruel than slaughtering animals !! right ?

i just wanna share few points here, i would want to know our muslim brothers take on that,
Point 1,
this was happened when i was working in dubai , way back in 2003 cricket world cup,India pakistan match
when sachin was batting in the second innings, one indian guy came to us and was telling my friend who is also a muslim , " India should not win the match, otherwise syeed anwar century go waste, and he was praying that sachin should get out soon,
my take on this, i would definitely hate Hindu religion if that was said by an Hindu who is a Indian,
Point 2,
if anyone know about bangalore, they could easily understand this,
muslim areas in bangalore they celebrate if pakistan wins the match and also they celebrate if india loose the match,
above all these , they use pakistan flag for flag hoisting , not indian flag,
I GUESS THE ABOVE SAID REASON IS ENOUGH TO PROVE HOW WELL YOU GUYS RESPECT YOUR OWN MOTHER LAND !!
