Hindus all over the world are protesting about the dirty skit of Jim Carrey making fun of Lord Ganesh in the Saturday Nite Live - January 8th , 2011 program.
They have succeeded in getting the clip off youtube.
They are now demanding an apology from Jim Carrey, SNL and NBC for this show.
It is easier for Hindus( AKA Saffron Terrorists) to protest in North America than in Hindustan(AKA India).

The sentiments of Hindus got hurt over the portrayal of Lord Ganesha as a sex act on NBC's Saturday Night Live (SNL) and all Hindu devotees from India want apologies from all involved including the great Comedian, Jim CarreyJim Carrey.
Renowned Hindu statesman Rajan Zed said that Lord Ganesha was highly revered God in Hindu sect and is meant to be worshipped in temples and at home shrines. Lord Ganesha can not be thrown around loosely in reimagined versions for gaining TRP's on the idiot box. Such an absurd depiction is condemned by all and is hurtful for all the devotees in India and anywhere in the world.
In a skit on NBC’s SNL titled - The Wrath of Ganesh, Jim Carrey (as erotic shaman Lee Licious) and Kenan Thomson (as Grady Wilson) express a sexual technique, mocking elephant-headed Lord Ganesha and his trunk in the process. Grady Wilson's Tantric N'Tasty” says, "Grady toured the world to find new sexual techniques to spice up the bedroom the tagline of the episode (1587)".
In Hinduism, Lord Ganesha is worshipped as god of wisdom and remover of obstacles and insulting him is considered no less than a sin here in India.
Rajan Zed asked Golden Globe winner actor-comedian Jim Carrey,
actor-comedian Kenan Thomson, NBC Universal president and chief executive officer Jeff ZuckerJeff Zucker, and SNL executive producer Lorne MichaelsLorne Michaels to announce the public apology for the work they did and urged them not to inappropriately drag Hindu deities for commercial gain and misguiding people who do not know anything about Hindu religion.

I do not see SNL, neither have I seen this specific episode, so cannot comment about how offensive it is to Hindus. But generally, Simpsons have made enough fun of "Ganpati" or "Ganesh" as they like to call.
"Family Guy" has parodied Jesus in their episode "Bird is a word". South Park regularly parodies Jesus on their show. I have yet to hear protests from Christians.
Regarding that entire South Park -Family Guy controversy about depicting Mohammed, that's where the double standards of American studios come into picture.
BTW, Lord Ganesh in Hindu mythology is a married character.
