What Area - semi for around 350

Guys, I am wondering if its time to buy real estate as my family is growing and i am ready to take a step forth. I am not as well versed in the surrounding and the home availabilities and will certainly use MLS to get more idea but wanted to see if any users of CD can advise.

What would be the best location to buy a semi (or even a detached) closest to Toronto, I am open to relocation as i work centrally and can commute reasonable distance, however was wondering about where to move.

How about Pickering or Ajax ? are there any houses or new development semis around these areas that one can get around in 350 K. If not which other areas are closest that one could buy in with this range. Preference is Semi or Detached and pre construction would be even better.

highway 50 + gore road have loads of new built houses. 350k semis should be available. highway 427 very close.
MLS genreally have expansive houses . Give 5-10% less offer than asked in MLS

Ajax/Pickering area is one of the major 'bedroom communities' of GTA, not far away from Toronto, most of the residents go to Toronto for work.

Both Resale and pre-construction detached homes are available for 350k range in Ajax.

Stoufville is another option, but pricier than Ajax. price range for a <5 years-old semi is 375k plus.

Hi Ram, Thank you for your response. I was looking at pickering too and was looking at the Seaton community thats being developed. have very limited to no knowledge about "what kind of a place is pickering for family living" but from the sounds of it the homes being built in seaton community look attractive as there is a lot information out there about how this new community will be taking shape in the next few years. thoughts ?

Hi there,

Pickering is one of the safest communities in GTA. As you may know, OPG is the major employer.

Central Pickering Community also called as Seaton is still in developing stage, fewer subdivisions have been approved including the one from Mattamy and more subdivisions are expected to come up soon. As per the plan, 60% of the area will remain as Agri/Natural preserve which will be very good. Devi mandir is within walkable distance.

Seaton is centrally located in between 407 and 401 and I believe the growth of this community in the near future will get a big boost with the extension of 407 to Hway115/35. The development committee also has plans to generate more than 30000 jobs by attracting businesses here and I believe the overall growth will be fairly well.

Thanks again Ram. I find it quite an interesting development as well and would be certainly looking into it :)
