Hi Friends,
I need a clarification on this issue. As per GOPIO(group of People of Indian Origin)- JS Deedar Singh on May 26,2010 issued instructions to all consulates to not charge the $240/Passport penalty with retrospective effect if citizenship of other country was taken before June, 2010.
Here in Toronto, CGI is still asking or that is what VFS is saying contrary to Jt Secy orders.
I am talking of penalty for cancellation of Indian passport and not the renunciation fee which is clear to VFS, that it is waved off for persons who got Canadian citizenship before Jun 2010.
Can anybody clarify? And if somebody can give me the link on that order when it was gazetted, it will be great.

Thanks bud for information. Does anybody know the email address of Ministry of External Affairs so that this nuisance by CGI -Toronto,Vancouver could be reported. Also may be we should involve Omni News or Star News and then CGI, Canada will act.
Very very unfortunate.
Thanks everybody anyways but keep posted everybody if any body gets a reprieve on this.
