Hi,
my spouse is just about to land in canada. Can anybody give me some idea about the teaching profession in Canada. Does one need to do any courses etc and how difficult is it getting jobs?
Thanks

To add to that.. all advertised positions are not necessarily open to outside applications or even when the position is advertised, there is normally someone already informally selected or in line for preferential treatment.

Teaching at what level? Kindergarten to Grade 12 or University/College?
K-12 - you must have teaching credentials stipulated by the province's teaching requirements. You should google how to become a teacher in ON.
For Univ/College - usually you'll require a Masters for community colleges and PhD for University level teaching.
And of course, there must be openings.
