In Indian currency, your salary would be around 43 lakhs in Canada before taxes. How you would be able to save more with only 43% more salary as compared to India when you will pay more income tax, pay 13% tax on everything you buy, and everything is going to cost a lot more as compared to India. Unless you live a lower lifestyle as compared to India, I do not see how you would be able to save money.

You can immigrate for a better infrastructure, cleaner air, etc.

I think one of the reason might be when I was there I was single. And I was in Ottawa where cost of living is not that costly

There also you can lease the car and public transport system I did used as well.

Yes you are correct when I was buying anything there I could have compromised with the quality as I knew I have to through it, when I leave Ottawa.Whether it was furniture or vacuum cleaner or Car

But here whenever I buy I think from life long settlement so quality is different.

Even if I move back to Ottawa my salary might be around 100K.

you are right infrastructure and clean air is better there but I am just looking for 4-5 year, and I also don't want to struggle with the 100K if I live there with my wife.

I doubt in ur earlier tenure u lived real life in foreign countries - may be u were the guest of the companies where u worked, or u lived in shared accomodation near ur work. Hence did not get exposure to real living expenses in foreign countries.

If u move at this time to any other country, ur wife will have to work. Ur kids get less parential time. and ur savings will certainly be less than u have in india.

Also, if u r living in inida, all ur expensenes of 1L are getting back into indian economy and giving jobs to many other people. U r unawarely helping many poor kids to go to school and in foreing countries ur kids will become more neglected because of ur moving decision.

so, STAY BACK IN INDIA and donot let the thoughts of CONFUSION enter into your brian.

30 L means you get 26L for 12 month, 2L goes to your PF as gratuity ( God know when you get it), and 2L you get as bonus if company and economy does well on year end.

Now answer to your question.

I only moved to any country when I had permanent job there, so my relocation and first 2 month accommodation was paid by company.
My medical was always paid by company. Even in Canada they give me extended medical coverage as basic was given by Govt.

But I never lived in shared apartment, my maximum expenditure was around 800 - 900 CAD month for apartment rent, as being single I can live in smaller size apartment or not at great area. I lived close to office and never owned expensive Car there.

So whatever you spend there, saving was definitely > 2.5K/Month with $94K annual. So you are correct that I never had real life experience there.

The only difference- I was single and being a youngest child I had no financial liabilities to my parents that time.

But Now I am married, my parents are retired and they do visit me frequently as I am in India but they never visited me abroad and I may not have same saving with 100K salary, once I live there with my wife.

I think you are right I should not have all these confusion in to my mind.

Wow Mr Silcon Man! I envy your position... you have a very good salary, great variety of food and a chance to be close to your folks... Of course you hate it because things are more expensive and bad traffic! If nothing at all was wrong with India, all these Indians outside and other folks would be scrambling to reach India by all means. And probably they would have 10s of millions of Pakis moving in illegally too! Your problems are INSIDE your sweet mind so you ar epretty much cursed, in my opinion! As you move to wherever you suspect there is easy loot to be made, your probs will move with you. As someone above lamented: you are truly pitiful. But then again, some folks can never be happy, regardless what mighty things they may have. Good luck to you working out with your own mind!!!

After being out of India for > 10 years I feel comparing India to abroad is like comparing apples to oranges ........... they are both different packages ........ each have their pluses and minuses and choosing one over the other is a personal decision .

That is right Fido. And I guess, ppl will look always the greener side. if they are here, they will cry for no saving, missing india, food, relatives, wht not...they wd dream that if all plus from here..and get plus from india too...
if they re in india.. they will die to come here..for better life..polution, kids education wht not.. and always think ..if i would be there.. i hve this plus and here this minus..

i guess, if we start leaving life..with all plus to look and not even think for minus.c..happy anywhere. we have family members, they are so happy in india..they even dont want to think to come over here.. and i know happy ppl here..too they think all is good here...thank god i m here..

be happy in wht you have..

man.you are very lucky to have job, wife and everything. just enjoy. if you will come over here..also, you have courage to make $$ and have wife...and good life is here too. but if you will look only other side greener..
defintaly, we cant get maid here in 3000rs.. :) thts best part....

half empty or half full..

be happy. i m happy with my half full here...never compared what it can be if i wd be in india. .............

Any comparison between life here and in India, makes no sense. There is little in common between the two countries. If you use your heart, then India is the place to live in. On the other hand, if you are hard headed, practical, and have no place for sentimentality, the west is the place to call "home".

Unfortunately, you can't have the best of both worlds.

Let me clear one thing.

My Intention is not to start comparison of India or West.

it's not about what to choose. I lived 3 year in Canada never cared about citizenship and all. One thing is very clear that I have to settle in India.

Now the discussion I started is that India is changing very fast( though it is still far behind as compared to developed country).

So just asked will it be nice if I go abroad for couple of year, so I can own a big house here. will it make any sense ?

I am not interested in PR, Citizenship and all intact I gave up my PR once.So let's not discuss about comparison.
