Suicide is perhaps the most tragic of all demises & happenings .. When a human being consciously decides to end his / her life , what can be perhaps more despairing ??
I read almost all the suicide news I read in the TOI .. Only today I read about a couple commiting suicide after their elder daughter died and pushed some poison down their younger daughter's throat before dying -
What causes suicides and why are there so less / no cases of suicides heard here in Canada ..... Is it because a. they are not reported or b . people do not commit suicides here as much as life is not so depressing even in extreme cases as they system supports you ....... which can explain finance related suicides but relationships / health related ....... hmmm ....
I wished to discuss this with other CD s , and was prompted to do so upon reading the news ... Please share thoughts ...

As far as financial problems are concerned, Canada definitely has far far better system to cope with financial distress. One can apply for bankruptcy and be free of harassment. Further Canada has far better law and order situation. No one can threaten physically for recovery which is so common and prevalent in India. I think India will take at least another 50 years to achieve that kind of decency.
As regards relationship related problems are concerned, Western social system is good in this respect as divorce is not considered a stigma.
Further India does not have social security system i.e. Pension or free medicines for seniors which is very bad

India is a big country(so the scale is bigger) and the news media tends to amplify issues.
