Hi all – My PR has come through and so my family and me plan to move to Toronto from Delhi sometime in end of May /early June. Like all new immigrants I had a few questions about the job market in Canada. But before that I want to give you some information about my background.

I have worked as an Assistant then General manager for five years with a publishing company in India and then did an MBA in Finance and Strategy from a reputed business school in the US (during that time I interned with Bank of America as a pricing specialist) after that due to some unavoidable family circumstances had to move back to India in 08 and since then have been working as a Project Manager for Non Profit educational trust in India.

I wanted to know what are the job prospects like in the finance field right now. Is there any particular industry that I could target now? I understand that with the economic situation being the way it is it will be difficult to get a good start but still I wanted to know as to how I should go about my job search (apart from using the internet and networking) and if anyone could help me with the hidden job market. Also I wanted to know if some job fairs are organised in GTA like the NSHMBA or the NBMBA in US.

Only caveat is that you should be able to atleast converse in french.
