Software engineer in India is certainly better than labourer job in Canada.
It is for the person to decide as how confident he is to survive in the global market where jobs shifts fast place to place as per the
balance sheet/share holders's requirements of the MNCs.

guys :

i dont understand 1 thing .... if this is the case where jobs will be shifted to india by 2010 why did the immigration qualification points decrease to 67 from 75. its a clear indication to normal beings that there is a dearth of good talent in canada and thats y the govt wants good qualified people to immigrate.

i have a few friends who are settled in ottawa, montreal & calgary and they are infact very happy. when they come to india for 20 days, from the 4th or the 5th day they start thinking of going back. and from the 1st hour they complain of Noise / Air pollution.

and BPO jobs working hours are 8 PM to 4 AM ... is anybody game to it year after year. i am yet to see one.

anyways lets share .... and enjoy. Its after all who decide what U wanna be by what U choose to be.

Hi Mishtar ,

I feel very bad when ppl like you siting in Canada, advise other, to not to come canada.

I Canada is really such a struggling place and there is no future out there then why don't you come back to India and set a example for other.

You should return first and then advise other.
What is the reason that you are still sitting back in Canada?

Its a human nature to keep trying for progress, ppl from smaller city move to bigger one for good opportunity...and from less developed to developed.

Don't forget that Mahatma Gandhi was a NIR , He came back to india and contributed to country.

Immigration is very important for India, It helps the country to make good relations with other country and boosts business and trades.

Learn something from china, how Chinese are spreading over the world and participating in main stream politics and business of other countries.

Cheers
Raj

I really dont understand why so many of you there in canda think life is easy in india if you earn enough! U may think 50k / month is enough but it isnt. Nothing is becos once you start earning that much your needs also increase..u want a better car, a better house and you end up with the same amount of stress as before.
My husband and I are very successful at what we do but let me tell you how life is here, in the last couple of years atleast...

We leave for work by 8:15 am else we will get caught in life's worst traffic jams(every single day) becos the roads are so bad and the traffic is terrible. Have to make sure we are up by 6 or so to make sure we leave by 8:15. We work atleast until 6:30 or 7 everyday and invariably reach home only by 8:30 or 9 pm everyday. We are so dead tired by then we have no energy to use our wonderful clubhouse or gym or any such thing. All we want to do is eat and crash. And another day begins ..an exact xerox of the previous day. We may have 51/2 or 5 days weeks but that's almost never so, noone here cares about things like weekends. if theres work to be done just do it. And all the overseas clients are extremely particular you dont disturb them on their holidays, weekends and vacation but being in India you better be available to them any time of the day and week.No questions to be asked! My uncle was down form US on vacation and was peeved with me cos I wouldnt switch off my phone while I was on vacation to spend time with him. He couldnt understand why I kept getting calls from work and had to keep taking time to go back to office for a couple of hours everyday even while i was on vacation.

In the middle of all this make sure that you pay your bills(betn 9am and 5pm) on weekdays (!!)(how the heck does one do that when u are working?!). If you want to avail the services of someone else to do it for you , its possible but pay for it! Nothing is for free in India too. So if you earn a certain amount, believe me your expenses match up to that and it does not leave you with too much. And if it does then you certainly never have the time to spend it on something that you enjoy doing.

Try taking a sabbatical, to travel or study and you can be sure you would be termed queer by the rest of the people. Who takes off from work like that and expect to get back a job after 6 months! Its unthinkable!
And those with kids, pls worry, not just about how well your son/daughter is doing at school but also how and why the rest of his/her friends are able to do better. Save your vacation to be with them during exams and be left with no vacation left to take off with them after their exams. Worry about capitation fees and donations. You cant get a kid even into pre nursery without a 40-50k non refundable donation!! (atleast in 95% of the schools)

Having said that, my brother and his family returned from US for good and are well settled here in india, dont plan to go back. But my sil is a stay at home person so its that much easier to share responsibilitie. So what if my brother(an extremely successful techie in a very senior position) comes home everyday at an average of 10 or 10:30 pm. That's the earliest he can be back! He is so sick of his work schedule he has vowed to retire in 10 years time..lets see!! :)

what I am trying to say is that its the same everywhere..it may not be great in Canada but its the same in India too. I guess its about getting caught in the rat race..whether its here in India or Canada or anywhere else. The solution is not in choosing the 'right' place to live....its something else that we need to address!

Nope,

these are the questions which you should ask yourself :

1) what life you are going to give to your kids?
2) unto what extend your govt. is behind you to help you?
3) How easy is, to get your work done from govt. office?
4) How much secure you are? and how Police helps you?
5) what is the medical(and other) benefits your govt. is offering you,
in lieu of your havy tax you are paying each moth?
6) how much time you spent with your family in a week?
7) How much politics involved in your workplace?

I lived in India,UK,Singapore and Hong Kong, what best and easy life
I live was in UK :

1) Office time : 8:30 to 5:30 (over work rare)
2) working day (5 days a week)
3) lots of bank holidays ( I worked even on Diwali in India)
4) excellent medical
5) excellent helps from govt. service and very easy to get your work done
from govt office

these are lots of difference...even you are doing labour work...life is very easy and you can spend time with your family..and your govt. is behind you to help you.

Cheers
Raj

Reachme, that's definately one of the more insightful and detailed posts I've read about the perils of returning to India. Also, what about things like

1) You have no connections, but have a to register a police complaint.
2) You have a great idea, come up with a wonderful but easy to construct gadget that saves people time and money. Lo and behold! Few days later, everybody is selling it and making a profit on it except you. Absolutely no concept of copyright or trademark.
3) Your son gets into a fight with the local politicians son at university. The politician's son and his goonda friends beat him up bad. What're you going to do? Take on a politician?
4) You're waiting in a long line, say at a airport. You'll notice every 5 minutes that some VIP and his family who have "connections" are led straight through the line to the front. And you can just stand and watch.
5) You bought a shirt 3 days back that looked great in the shop, but now you're looking and it and wondering what the hell you were thinking. You try to return it for a full refund...Well, good luck! (as a sidenote, there's so many desis who abuse this here, its not even funny)

And there's more as we all know. More often than not, people who yearn to return are either those with the connections that gave them an edge over the rest of us or those who tend to ignore these frustrating details when they reminisce of their homeland.

There are a lot of positives about moving to India too, but compromises have to be made. And same is true for Canada. But there's a saying in English "Distance lends enchantment to the view." Which explains why there are Indians in Canada who want to return while there are thousands upon thousands who're dying to come here from India.

This is my view only.

Immigration is a big business and source of revenue for Canada. Each immigrant brings at least $10,000 apart from the application fee and landing fee to be pumped into the economy.

I cannot at all believe that point reduction is based on actual demand of any particular profession. Immigration in Canada is not at all based on actual requirements of number of doctors, lawyers, or people from other professions needed for the economy.

Actually people try to compare how they were doing in India and how they are faring in Canada and their advice is based on their experiences. It can be a good experience in Canada and bad experience for some. When a person is struggling in Canada, how can he paint a rosy picture for people coming from India. It is the work of immigration consultants to do that!

Sometimes it is no use of advising and people take it offensively. They better come to Canada and get a feel for themseleves.

For some, it is an option of choosing between devil and deep sea!
