Dear CD's

I will be landing in March 2010 in Toronto. I am an Accountant by profession.

How is the Job market in Toronto for accounts guy like me. Any advise?

Dear bombayduck62,

I have 10 yrs of experience in accounts, 6 years in trading and service company, 2 years in contracting company and 2 years in Investment bank. I can handle accounts upto finalization. My education BCOM & MBA(Finance) 1st class. I have also enrolled for CGA online.

Where should I look for Job? How much salary should I expect in my first job? Any guidance will be most welcomed.

Hi, my answer will be a very naive one because like you we also don't reside in Canada yet. Your education and experience is good and you should be able to find something (even if it is basic in the beginning, you can climb up later). I've heard of account temps (see link), register with them and see if they can help you. These may be temporary jobs but help you get the Canadian experience and permanent jobs for future.

We have already landed in 2007, since my husband works for a Canadian co. (outside Canada) we are not in a hurry to relocate. I'm happy it helps you in any way.
