I strongly suggest u spend more time improving ur situation than advising people on such matters with a negative frame of mind that you have developed.. it does not help anyone..

As i said for every two failures one person makes it in canada.. that makes it a 30% ratio.. which i would say is pretty good for packing ur bags and moving thousands of miles to an alien place and alien culture..

Moreover whether my qualification will hold good there or do i need to start from scratch. I have done my Masters in Pharmacy (Marketing) with 4 years of exp in Marketing & Sales. My wife is working in a travel firm.

Kindly guide me.

I request you all to guide this couple. This is one of many post reced in my in box. I don't know why you all are blaming us, we are on our right track, did our co-op,volutarily work, now we got job also. We are successful since we got in our own field.

Why everything come back to us persoanlly, whereas I just wanted new immigrant mentally and financially prepared. Is there something wrong in being well wisher and try to save them from stress and mental torture?

I agree with dudewheresmycar.

In order to inspire others, one should have a a \"can do\", \"never-say-die\" and positive attitude towards life. One can not inspire others if he/she gives up easily, and sees nothing but dark clouds in the sky.

To be inspired, one needs to gather strength from within. As someone said, it is easy to be negative, dejected and give, for that needs no effort. Where you need effort is to ignore all the failures and keep working towards a goal.

Nothing works like the power of positive thinking! I know this from experience - so do scores of others, who have come up the hard way.

The original post of GopalPai has been hijacked for about 5 pages now. People reading CD are not kids. Give them stories on both sides of the coin. Let them decide. If they are confused they have an inexpensive solution. PM the poster and I am sure many are ready to give some time and advice based on their experience.

I don't know GopalPai but read his posts on the various steps he takes to reach the professional job. Especially the effort to do a co-op and keep watching for a good opportunity in these tough times. I've gone through very similar experience as him, but fortunate to have a good perm job now. But I came prepared mentally and financially based on the many facts thrown on the face by the patrons here.

Again, I am not pointing at anyone here. Please let the original intent of this thread continue. People come to CD not only for motivation but also to get facts (unbiased facts).

It is a good thread started by Gopal Pai and I can suggest that after passing more than 7 months here I can say that it is not a piece of cake.
I met a couple of new Indian immigrants and the story is similar:

It is ironical to start afresh from the bottom; and nobody in this forum mentions that when u go to factories to do labor job do u find any European immigrant or fair people doing the same job...never..we Highly qualified Desis do it..becoz we came with an ambition to achieve something here..

So any new immigrant willing to make a decision should think about the "Time" it takes to get the accreditation here is more than a couple of years. You should be mentally prepared to study again along with a labour job(if u can get one).

Labor jobs are down due to manufacturing demand is really down and I know my friends are not able to get even a day's shift call in a week from the factories. So everyday when they eat up their savings they really feel depressed.

Teaching jobs are having limited prospects..check Ontario job futures. So Teachers please think twice before thinking about it after seeing the misleading ads in Indian newspaper that there is a huge demand for Teachers in Canada.

Banking and Finance: You should have at least Canadian Securities Course or Mutual fund course to get your resume shortlisted by the recruiters along with some time duration of your stay in Canada to get your security credential checked by the bank.
Check your prospects on govt job futures website.

So bring money to sustain yourself for a year instead of 6 months and Josh to do some accreditation studies for a couple of years than it is good otherwise it is natural inhospitable place with majority of your time passed within airtight heated houses and a lot of negativity due to recession.

In present circumstances if money is the criteria to come to Canada than forget it.
For other reasons ....it is a new world to explore.

In most cases the accreditation process involves gaining relevant work experience. So technically you should be studying and working at the same time or otherwise you are wasting your time. For example, the 2-year CMA Strategic leadership program should be taken simultaneously while working, same for CGA and CFA or becoming a P.Eng.

There is a critical surplus of teachers in Canada.
Provinces warn of 'critical' teacher surplus
