Hi Gopal Pai,

Congratulations on your positive spirit.

Can I request you something as you are a recent immigrant?.

Can you kindly make a single summary of all your postings before immigration and after immigration.

This would help all the future immigrants about the typical expectations before immigration and the reality after immigration.

Please include information of what kind of money you guys earned before, what you saved, what was your family's expectation about Canada both opportunity/monetary terms and what is the reality now. This should include your current expenses versus earnings and also the kind of life you are leading.

Please be truthful to yourself.

Very sorry to note that your husband has gone back to India.

The best contribution you could do to CD is by making a single post (by cut and paste) of all your posts so that your particular case could be a CASE STUDY for all future immigrants.

Regards,

I have been on this forum since 2003 ... and there have been members here before me esp Chandresh .... not that we have not had differing views with other members - we have had a lot .................. But we take it in our stride and continue on .... enjoying every bit of it & then leaving it at that ..... nothing more nothing less .

Heck - its a discussion forum -- people air their views and there are differences ..... thats not enough reason to take it personally .... I recall even I have had differing views with you on one of the threads but that does not mean that you or I should not be here .

From another perspective , if you are leaving because of others' views on you / your thoughts , then I m afraid you are letting them get the better of you .... Peace does not come from the absence of conflicts in life but with the ability to cope with them ...

Lastly - CD is more than a forum -- its an addiction .... its hard to say Goodbye :) .

Very succinctly put. Excellent.

A man was walking down a deserted Mexican beach at sunset.
As he walked along he began to see another man in the distance.
As he grew nearer, he noticed that the local native kept leaning down, picking something up, and throwing it out into the water.

Time and again he kept hurling things out into the ocean.
As our friend approached even closer he noticed that the man was picking up starfish that had washed up onto the beach, and one at a time, he was throwing them back into the ocean.

The first man was puzzled.

He approached the man and said, "Good Evening Friend, I was wondering what are you doing?"
And he replied, "I'm throwing these starfish back into the ocean.
You see, it's low tide right now and all these starfish have been washed up onto the shore.

If I don't throw them back into the sea, they will die from the lack of oxygen."
"I understand," my friend replied "but there must be thousands of starfish on this beach and you couldn't possibly get to all of them.

There are simply too many and don't you realize that this is happening on hundreds of beaches up and down this coast ... can't you see that you can't possibly make a difference?

The local native smiled, bent down, picked up yet another starfish ...
and as he threw it back out into the sea, he replied,

@ "It made a difference to that one!"

You may feel like you cannot make a difference in the world today,

but you

@ CAN make a difference in one life at a time.

HI "I Love NA "
You are one of the least criticized posters on CD . I think that says a lot .
I personally like to see you more often here on CD .
Anyways best of luck in whatever you decide .

To all who sent me PM's, urging me not to give up, or stop writing, I thank you for the bottom of my heart. To those who showed unstinting support, and encouragement, I express my gratitude.

I am moved by what your posts and personal messages said. I have taken you seriously, and will be back here soon in the same fervor, as before. I feel humbled by your expression of support, and encouragement. THANK YOU AGAIN!!

To my detractors, and those who made direct and veiled personal attacks I say this - my hiatus - sadly brief, should have given you time to introspect.

I seem to have taken your \"label war\" very seriously. You questioned my patriotism, equating India for the mother in a Bollywood-ish way, tried to shame me into not writing what happens in India.

As I said before, be it child labor, child molestation, dowry deaths, poverty, starvation. racism, war or famine - I will continue to write about it - whether it happens in CANADA or in INDIA.

No one needs to take my posts as a personal insult. India and Canada mean as much to me, as it does to you.

In the same breath, should Indians win the Nobel peace prize or should Indian cities become \"numero uno\", I will write about that too. I will continue to highlight anything that I consider a positive achievement, that India witnesses.

I have been and will continue to be objective. I have been civil, and careful in my choice of words and language - this is something that I will continue to do.

After this, if you still want to consider me biased, prejudiced, anti - India, so on and so forth, please choose to do so.

The time for free speech has come ! !
